Jack Johnson is penalized because he didn't defend his title against black fighters even though he fought them before he won the title. I found this post to be one of the weirdest answers to a post that I've ever read lol... Ring Mag did not post this answer. In fact, history knows that Tunney went out of his way "not" to fight black fighters when other caucasian fighters were fighting black fighters on the regular. I understand the times of maybe not giving black heavyweights a title shot since it was rare in that day, but Tunney didn't fight any black fighters during his career.
