Clottey is certainly a tough gritty live dog in this fight. That said he has a tendency to gas very quickly (hence his cautious style). I think the key to this fight is whether the Margarito fight was an aberration for Miguel in terms of stamina or if it was the revelation that Cotto can't keep the pedal down for 12 rounds against a pressure fighter.

If Cotto can keep it going for 12 hard tough rounds, I think he wins a close split decision. The moment he falters in the tank, it's going to be up to Clottey to take advantage. I don't think Clottey WILL (it's just not his nature) but if he does, IT'S OVAAAAAAAH!

Yeah, that's the tricky part. Throw in the whole wrap controversy, and it's hard to decide what to make of that fight going forward. We did find out though that Cotto's defense isn't as smooth as we all thought, and that he might not have the ability to seriously hurt a rugged true welterweight. Clottey legitimately stunned Margarito a few times, and I don't think Cotto ever did, whatever Lampley might have thought live.

I thought Clottey did a respectable job closing the distance against Judah (although of course Judah isn't Cotto), and I'm also wondering how much Clottey's high guard is going to throttle Cotto's jab.

Bottom line, it's just a damned good fight. I'm juiced for this one.

because...he already has the huge win over mosley, and clottey is a man that many say is ducked.....so when you fight and beat the man, and then beat the most avoided fighter, then that makes you the best :bbb

It would definitely make him the best welterweight who fights welterweights.

If he wins then hes got nothing but the biggest fights coming and that hes still the **** and has recovered because Clottey is a beast. Cotto can then get a rematch with Mosley hopefully and try to become unfied and lineal champ in his Career, big things.

Now if he loses then damn, I wouldnt say he still beat down from the Margarito fight because Clottey is better then Margarito. But Cotto would have to fight Berto to get back in the mix or ask for a rematch. I hope Cotto wins but I wouldnt be surprised if Clottey wins, hes no cupcake and you never know what hes gonna bring because this is his biggest fight ever!! Could be the best Clottey we've ever seen, 5 days away....

Hes still gotta beat Mosley and we all know this. and its not like Cotto beat Mosley big time, I had the fight at draw (but wont argue for Cotto 7-5, 8-4 you lost your damn mind) plus thats Cotto old belt, he should wanna get that back. The winner of Cotto-Clottey is clearly #2 and the winner should fight Mosley for unfied and lineal WW king.

This fight will dictate whether he has his confidence back,I doubt we will have another Roy Jones who is not able to commit like he once did.. Cotto is a different breed, after the Margo fight he still wanted a rematch he should be fine Saturday night..
