First article that puts a number on JMM's purse(on this website) claims that he will be making 3 million. I know it's nothing to sneeze at, but after hearing so many times how this would be his highest purse I somehow was expecting something around 5 million.

This puts a new perspective on things. JMM is definitely not doing this just for the money since I think he could have made the same purse fighting a lesser threat.

i agre its not mostly for the money, but for him a $3 million pay day is a good day for marquez and probably his last big pay day....unless he gets pac again.

It's still a lot compared to what he used to make, this is his only chance to make big money and if he wins this a third fight with Pac should make him double the amount.

It's disgraceful the way Marquez was/is managed. This guy ALWAYS seems to be on the short end of the deal. Yet he ALWAYS brings the warrior instinct, blood and some of the best technical ability in the sport. Marquez deserves 60% of the purse in every fight!

how much money did he make against juan diaz and el cepillo? i think 3mil for marquez is too lean considering how much pbf is making. is this a 75-25 split?

    Its still a cashout.

$3 million is the same amount of money he priced himself out of a fight with Morales a few years back.

It's still the largest purse of his career, right?

I recall that the rumours of mis-management go back as far as when Hamed was WBO champion and JMM was his mandatory. I know there are plenty of rumours that Hamed ducked JMM but there was also talk that JMM was advised not to take the fight. Also he took the fight against John in Indonesia for peanuts (around £30,000 one source quoted) instead of a proposed immediate rematch with Pacman.

Doesn't sound like an awful lot for an athlete his level, but that comes from being poorly managed. He got imposed on heavily at the negotiating table (although 75-25 is just about right IMO). Hope he gets a cut off of the ppv.
