    alright...
i've been knowing this dude for quite some time now, both of us have been in and out of the gym since we were kids....he's about 3 years younger than me...he trains his heart out but he can't fight because he gets epileptic seizures all the time...as a kid he built a nice amateur record of about 21-1, but then everything went down hill from there...nobody wanted to train him and nobody wanted him in their gym...it was to much of a risk because of the liability, plus his seizures etc etc...he's a poor dude with nothing to look forward to really....all his dreams were of becoming pro and making money off of that.....anyways, finally the PAL started letting him train some people and occasionally help out with sparring, but really light sparring.....

3 weeks ago, my friend who runs the PAL had our annual "battle by the border" event where law enforcement officers fight each other......the day of the fight somebody pulled out...and it happened to be the opponent of a pretty popular mma fighter here where i'm from....they didnt want that guy off the card because he was bringing a lot of people with him and they didnt wanna risk people not showing up....so they asked my friend like 4 hrs before the event started if he wanted to fight....he didnt even hesitate and said **** YEAH....now, he weighs about 215 which is about 30-40 pounds away from his fighting weight, and this mma guy is a shredded 220.....now, i didnt even know he was gonna fight until he walked out to the ring, and being that i know his situation, i got scared but at the same time i got happy for him....there was about a thousand people there cheering and singing etc etc...he really felt good

as he was making his way to the ring, all the mma guys were talking **** about him...they were so sure there boy was gonna make quick work of him and ko him within seconds....they were talking **** about boxing, about how my boy looked physically etc etc...i mean, these guys were talking MAD ****EN ****....i was right next to them and i was the only guy cheering for my boy....i didnt talk ****, all i did was tell them "don't sleep on my boy, he aint no punk"....they were all like YEAH RIGHT, HE AINT ****, HE LOOKS LIKE CRAP AND HE'LL BE LUCK TO MAKE IT OUT THE 1ST.....

when the first bell rang, he took it easy and let the other guy tee off on him, but he landed about 3 or 4 brutal body shots that kept the other guy at bay......the 2nd and 3rd were ****en great rounds, he had that mma guy like a ****en rag doll and almost made him quit, everybody was quiet except for a few of us that actually knew him....the faces of most of the mma guys was ****EN PRICELESS....everybody was calling the mma guy a "MONO" which means "DOLL" and it's used here a lot.....they call guys MONO'S that look all cut up and in shape but can't fight for ****:lol:

this is the sad part guys...

after they announced him the winner, he started crying and grabbed his trophy with pride and honor...all the mma guys coaches went up to him and hugged him with joy.....when he came down to take pictures, he had another seizure, and when he fell he landed on his trophy breaking it in half.....the ambulance got there and took him away.....

sorry for the long thread fellaz, just wanted to share that with you guys........

damn.. i feel for him.. but regardless.. a trophy's a trophy, at least he gained the respect he deserved.. no one can take away the fact that he pumbled someone of that level as the underdog with no preparation.. good story, hope your boy made a full recovery.

Sounds like a good boxer. Keep him away from Buddy McGirt.

i guess when the adrenaline is running, he feels nothing...but when he starts calming down is when he usually gets them.....he use to get them a lot after a sparring session, or after training....i have never seen him get one during....

i remember the first time i saw that, i thought he was dying....pretty scary/sad ****

Damn.....sad brah. But at least he was able to live a small fraction of his dream. Very unfortunate about his condition but that is a great story. You should have taken a pic of those MMA guys who were talking ****. I'm sure their expression was priceless!
