Thats were you making your mistake...You're thats were you're messing up think that Clottey's style will not frustrate Cotto...In the past Cotto seems to get off pace whenever he's not taking control.
how will it frustrate him? he doesn't apply much pressure (besides hopping forward time to time) and he doesn't throw enough. he shells up and throws in short bursts. all cotto needs to do is move laterally when he shells up and stick and move. that way, when clottey looks to throw, he's just gonna find air.
I hope you're right Fred but I think Josh not be active enough is a misconception. Partly having to do with Josh's style being compared to that of Winks......Josh isn't as good a wink, but their style is similar. Josh is more active than Wink ever was. It'll be a good scrap whoever wins. But you could be right....Marg throws 100 punches per round. Josh is maybe Half that....he'll definitely need to push Cotto early on to make sure he's expending a lot of energy through offense and footwork in order fro Josh to really take Cotto out of his game late in the fight.
:rofl My goodness...You dont have to throw a 100-110 rounds to frustrate some one...If you cant hit your target because they're constant cover will frustrate fighters...See it all the time...You keep saying that Clottey doesnt throw enough but I fail to see what you're talking about...Be more specific here...What fights are you talking about that Clottey shells up and doesnt throw back when presented the chance????...Clottey will make Cotto pay...Cotto will eat straight right hand leads and uppercuts all day.
If Clottey can take the punishment, he should be able to find a soft spot on Cotto's head and body, and I can see Clottey winning. On the other hand, Cotto could probably hurt him early and win via KO. Cotto doesn't like fighting 12 rounds, he always looks horrible past the 9th or 10th, Clottey must try to prolonge the fight and not get hit as much if he wants to win.
of course clottey throws back. he's a counter puncher. that's not what i was saying at all. my point is, cotto is a very focused fighter. he's not gonna get frustrated just cause clottey's putting up his gloves and blocking cotto's punches. cotto will come in with a strategy for that. there are ways of getting around the gloves and there are ways to counterpunch a counterpuncher. i was saying clottey doesn't throw enough because the only way i see him beating cotto is by somehow managing to wear cotto down like margarito did by throwing a huge amount of punches per round and by NOT BEING A COUNTERPUNCHER. this is why clottey's style will not allow him to wear cotto down. how much more specific can i be?
Clottey KO'd - First of all, I don't even think he's ever been knocked down. Second, did anybody see the way he was pounding Margo before his hand injury? Even when he couldn't throw any more punches he still survived the fight. This shows his ability to take a punch. Also, he's used to fighting 12 rounds - he does not tire easily. I've seen Cotto tire in several occasions. Clottey will use his solid D early while Cotto tires, then steel the second half of the fight. I'm seeing either a spit or unanimous decision for Clotttey.
also true. meaning he's going to have to shell up and counterpunch. which is not going to win him many rounds until he decides to trade more. the guy who gets off first more often is usually the guy to win the fight.
atsch You're also dismissing my points to make you're points more valid...No matter how you try to spin it a fighter gets frustrated if they cant get to they're target...We'll just leave it at that because I'm not agreeing with your break down and you apparently isnt feeling my break down so we'll just agree to disagree. Edit...You've yet to tell me which fight that you speak of when Clottey goes into a shell and doesnt throw back.
if he doesn't pound the **** out of cotto with a sheer multitude of connected power punches cotto will not tire like he has. hopefully cotto's conditioning has gotten a little better and he has learned through experience how to get through the full 12 rounds by actually clinching once in a while, etc.
