Pretty sad, but great story about my friend who trains

    you see so many long threads somtimes i cant be arsed reading them but this was a great story :good

    props to ur boy for the win hope he made a full recovery

    no....
    the mma guy works with the national guard, so they let him fight....that, and being that he's pretty popular, they figured it would do great ticket sales...and my boy (organizer) didn't wanna pull him out cause the money raised was/is to send off the kids to the golden gloves next month.....:good

    so that even makes it more of a greater story, the fact that he stepped in for the kids also...PAL doesn't really give a **** about boxing anymore, so all the money we raise is hard earned cash...nothing is given to us

    Where I'm from, silly child, we have lots of boxing/MMA events that feature both types of fight, and we also have events like Tuff Enuff where boxers show up to try their hand at NHB style fighting. It never ends well.

    Yeah... a lot of MMA guys try to improve their stand-up by participating in amateur boxing events with real boxers. That often doesn't end up well either lol

    Striking with gloves on is a very different art, takes a LONG time to master.

    Your friend demonstrates once again why skills win fights and being 'shredded' is an afterthought. I spar on a regular basis, and tell you one thing, if you dont have the technical skills allowing you to box you will be gassed after one round of sparring let alone knocking the other guy out.

    Note: technical skills do not mean speed, power or strength.

    Great story. Any chance you could get the dude your buy whipped to pose for some pics? That way your freind would have something to point at and say" Ya, that's the bad ass I whoopped!"

    Great story Freddie. You just made my day m8. I have a nephew with epilepsy and will be giving him ur thread to read. He is 9 years old and the seizures are scary as ****. Im sure your story will inspire him as much as it did me, as he has taken up mine and his fathers love for boxing, and comes to the gym with us at least twice a weak.

    Mad respect to your friend, he has courage in bucketfulls and deserves to be remembered on this board.
