I just watched the Chagaev-Drummond fight on youtube. It seems to me that Chagaev was hurt by a right hand in round three; his body went limp for a split second and his legs were unsteady. Chagaev recovered quickly, but still, it was shocking to see him stunned.

The punch took place at about the 2:36 mark of round three. On youtube, the punch is thrown at the 9:13 mark of the film, which is "Part 1 of 4" of "Ruslan Chagaev vs. Carl Davis Drummond", posted by FightFranchise.

Surprisingly, none of the news articles I found on the Internet say anything about this incident.

Also surprising is that most people had Chagaev well ahead on points at the time of the stoppage. I thought that most of the rounds were very difficult to call; not by any stretch of the imagination, to me at least, was Chagaev definitely winning.

All in all, I thought the Chagaev's performance in this fight was noticeably inferior to his effort against Valuev in 2007. In fact, I'm wondering if Chagaev is declining physically now.

    What do you guys think?

Chagaev has a rock solid chin, but he could get knocked out by Vlad. He is a dangerous fighter, Haye was not.

Not true. Haye is nothing compared to Chagaev. I have watched Chagaev fight for years, Haye would have no chance vs. Chagaev. Haye had not real chance against Vlad. Vitali would love to fight Haye, easy knock out for him, but is waiting for WBC to make a decision about Oleg.

i think chagaev is a tougher fight for haye then wlad.....i think haye is more explosive and a very good counter puncher against somebody like wlad....you said yourself in an earlier thread...style's make fights....haye is quick, explosive and a good counter-puncher....chagaev-wlad is a mismatch.

Chagaev just aint the same fighter he was 2 years ago. I think the injuries/disease has taken alot out of him, especially in the boxing skills and hand speed department. I would be shocked to see him last the full 12 with Wlad.

exactly, i think wlad takes him out in rounds 7 or 8.....if not its a horrible decision loss for chagaev 120-108 119-109

Yeah, I feel the same. Though if glass chinned Rahman could last 8 rounds, then it very well could go the distance. Though I'm saying a 9th round TKO for Wlad, after he beats him down with the jab through the first half of the fight.

This is a prime example of blind nuthugging. Chagaev sucks don't try to pump him up like you did corrie sanders. Corrie Sanders also sucked and he still knocked your hero out. Oh by the way Wlad has the weakest chin in boxing history and also he has paper skin made for cutting.

I,too, thought that most rounds were difficult to score in his encounter with Drummond, but he seemed to be on his way to connect more easily at the time theif fight was stopped.
Chagaev very often takes his time before going for blood. He had looked very mediocre versus Sprott before he knocked him out. He had also looked very average vs Sedrick Fields before he knocked him out.
I am absolutely positive that Drummond would not have gone the full route with him,but he for sure didnt win any new fans in that fight.
