Maybe he wasn't orthodox and often amateur-looking but he certainly wasn't '**** to watch'. Maybe your idea of great to watch is having a chin like a biscuit?

Its barmy how a guy who's favourite fighter is one of the most hyped fighters in British history and a Fwank Warren propoganda puppett, who has been sparked in 1, knocked down off a smaller non puncher and down several times in his career and has yet to fight a "live" opponent (bar Prescott, and that was because they thought he was ****) can blast Calzaghe for fighting no bodies and being put down.

    By......the sillinus of it all:-(

I fancy Froch to win this. Froch has a chin like Eubank and would absorb a monster beating for 7 rounds before he gets to Benns weak chin.

Froch's chin hasn't been proven to be Eubank like good yet.

Would be all out war which was right up Benns street but Froch seems to relish a tear up also. This is a 50/50 for me. Not seen Froch truelly hurt yet and not sure Benn was as devastating at 168. But saying that I'll go for Benn to stop Froch mid fight after being wobbled a couple of times himself. Froch goes in to finish benn on the ropes and a benn right-uppercut lefthook makes froch do an elvis impression and the ref jumps in.. REMATCH!

    Easy noob

firstly calzaghe arrived as these guys were getting ready to pack it in and secondly I wasnt talking about who wins I was talking about a desire to fight the best and engage in good battles. Froch does , Benn et al did Calzaghe.....................did not.

Calzaghe would have been in the mix, but not because of the reason you suggest. Calzaghe looked hard to hit when he was fighting a shot-to-**** Jones. For me, Calzaghe's greatest attribute defensively was, ironically, the ability through workrate, stamina & movement, to press his opponent and put them on the back foot. Any guy who couldn't fight going backwards was in big trouble against Calzaghe because they simply didn't have the opportunity to land anything of substance. That said, he was put on his arse in his last two fights, by a fairly light hitting B-Hop and Superman's forearm. His defence isn't all that.

That's such nonsense.......going to the back end of nowhere in North America to fight Jermain Taylor, who was a mandatory challenger anyway, does not mean he is the ultimate warrior who will fight anybody in their back gardens.

Froch is 31 and simply has to milk the boxing game for as much as it is worth at the moment because he isn't getting any younger and has only just won the belt.

Just a couple of fights ago he was fighting and getting tagged by an ancient Robin Reid and then fought a taxi driver from the Eastern Bloc on a late replacement.

Just cos he has a big mouth and has to push the big fights due to no UK TV coverage/investment and his age doesn't mean he deserves more accolades than Joe Calzaghe for taking on all comers. Because he hasn't. And might not.

And you say Calzaghe was ugly to watch. Fair enough but Froch looks like a robotic Bambi on ice and relies heavily on his power and ability to take a punch.

Going to fight Hopkins at a new weight in the USA at 36 years old is clearly a bigger challenge than flying to Foxwoods infront of one man and his dog to defeat a damaged MW on Shotime.

Calzaghe also fought Chris Eubank in his first 12 round fight, arguably a harder task than any of Froch's fights. I mean how much better is a Jean Pascal than a Sakio Bika or a Jeff Lacy??

Froch also ridculed Calzaghe for fighting Hopkins due to Bernard being 43, yet is willing to fight a 44 year old Hopkins at a catchweight if the money is there. Such a warrior!

Calzaghe fought the best domestic guys he could in his era in a past best Eubank, Woodhall, Reid and Starie. Clearly these names aren't as impressive as a prime Benn, Watson, Collins and Eubank but he never ducked a domestic challenge.

Putting Froch in the pantheon of British Middleweights for having a big mouth and telling everyone he's not a ducker seems ludicrous until he actually matches or surpasses what all those other guys including Calzaghe did.

Calzaghe just seems like an easy target for people who are easily taken in by Froch's talking without looking further into it.

Thats a massively slanted argument there. The Hopkins argument is quite brilliant as well as although he's not the biggest puncher you neglected to mention he's an atg who went onto score one of his most important wins in superb fashion after Calzaghe beat him.

Benn via TKO stoppage in a war. That is one fantasy fight I would love to see!

True enough Froch needs to continue in this vein but I'm not going to criticize him for something which has not yet happened. He's only had one defense. I would agree that fighting Hopkins is not the way to go though !

However to try and kid me on that Calzaghe wasnt content (simliarly to Roy Jones) smashing the **** out of guys who had no business being in the ring with him while defending the lowest regarded of the belts. That dont wash.
