Is Mayweather really too big for Marquez?

    Here's a portion of an article from another site;

    New York, NY- We’re just beyond a month following the announcement of a Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0, 25 KOs) return bout against Juan Manuel Marquez (50-4-1, 37 KOs) and some critics have expressed distain on his choice of opponent. Mainly, detractors have made mention to Marquez being too small for the 32-year-old Mayweather. Marquez, at 36 recently made an official move up to lightweight (135 lbs) and bested two very good fighters in Juan Diaz and Joel Casamayor. Mayweather, on the other hand hasn't fought at 135 since 2003, when he destroyed South African gatekeeper Phillip N'dou. Both men will now meet at 144 lbs on July 18, but is weight a big issue or does it boil down to a difference in career paths?

    Marquez shouldn't even need to be at lightweight and he is THIRTY SEVEN YEARS OLD. Mayweather couldn't make 130 anymore when he was TWENTY FIVE. Mayweather is clearly a Welterweight at this stage in his career. The guy doesn't want anything to do with 140.

    Marquez is basically moving up 2 divisions from a division he shouldn't be in! Mayweather has picked a cherry so ripe, so fresh, so crisp that I doubt anyone could ever pick one as flavoursome.

    The question leads to bigger point regarding the size issue. Don't worry about it though. I just thought it was interesting.
