Pac can be ko'd twice in 3 rounds, lose a decision, have two draws which can be called losses, and be greater than the fighters I mentioned lol...
Nah. He is greater than Hopkins, Barrera, Morales, Marquez, Tyson, Floyd, Oscar and Tito. Not Sweet Pea or Jones though. Calzaghe?! atsch Don't make me laugh. The shoddy-resumed one does not deserve to be mentioned in that sentence. He is more on the level of Tszyu, Winky, Vasquez and Castillo than he is on the level of the Jones's and Hopkins's and Pacquiao's and Floyd's.
Everybody knows I am a HUGE fan of Pac and a HUGE critic of Calzaghe, but even I know that is utter bull****. Manny could not cope at 154 IMO, and Calzaghe was a natural and very strong smw. A complete h2h mismatch, even though Pac is the clearly superior fighter in all-time pound-for-pound terms.
what did he do after to morales?? Who by the way- is greater than anyone who hopkins has beat by far Hopkins couldnt even avenge hes loss to Taylor. And was handled pretty easily by rjj(with a damaged hand). Pac was ko'd very early and their circumstances were very different.
name me 3 fighters of any great note who he beat during that reign. Il start with 1-trinidad(former welterweight, hand wraps en all, de la hoya etc etc)..............??
The bigger logic that Pac defied is that of a puncher fighting and beating iron chinned great boxers. Tito failed against Hopkins Hearns failed against Hagler Tyson failed against Holyfield Foreman failed against Ali Whereas Pac repeatedly done in successfully against Barrera, Marquez and Morales.
Pac's career isn't finished yet, I'm not even sure he's past his prime. The same can't be said of Hopkins, the salad days are in the rear view mirror. At the moment, historically I PERSONALLY value Hopkins acheivements at middle and his pretty amazing post middle career above Pac's belt collection. It's not a knock on Manny at all, he is an ATG. The number at which either man stands is pretty irrelvant in their remarkable careers.
Perhaps I need to think this through more but I think I'm leaning towards Hop. You have to weigh up Hops 10 year rule, unification, and subsequest wins at light heavy over some pretty good fighters against PAC's multi-divisional feats. If this question was posed before PAC beat Hoya and Hatton I believe everybody would have said Hop was in front. Do the wins over Hoya and Hatton put him in front? I'm not really convinced. *voting 'too tough to call'*
had hopkins not lose to taylor twice, hopkins would easily be in the top 15 ATG...but he lost twice to a fighter that turned out not to be a hall of famer at least
i think hopkins is a little higher especially when he beat prime undefeated pavlik, and in losing to taylor and calzaghe i gave credit to hops also considering his age
