thats what i heard too is that khan was drained at lightweight, and there is talk that khan may later on in his carear move to welter....he would even be big at welter...he is 5'10
I think Khan moving to 140 is a great move, and we will see the best of him at this weight. Dr.Roach and his team have been working Khan real hard and improving Khan's allround game and improving his fittness inorder for him to keep a high work rate and movement just like Manny for 12 rounds. Dr.Roach has been saying Khan punching harder a 140, and adding any power to his already great hand speed should have great results. Khan from the first bell keep working behind that fast jab and look for openings. I see Kotelnik on the back foot for most of the fight, people think Khan will slow down after mid way, wrong Khan has great fittnes even a little drop in hand speed will not effect him still beating Kotelnik to the punch. Khan win via Late TKO(Khan can be the first guy to stop him) or UD Dr.Roach's team are great in using weight right and they will make that extra 5lbs count trust me, Kotelnik is in big trouble.
Kotelnik has never gone down then i take it, it seems alot of people on here dont know much about Kotelnik, i know he has defended the title 4 times so he cant be bad.
Kotelnik is a good tidy fighter, does most things right, good defence, picks his shots, But goes on the back foot if pressure is put on him, this is the area Khan will work on . He has only lost 2 times via close points a one draw i think. Kotelnik has never been KO.
Definitely, too many good fights to make there and this first step isn't a bad one at all, should be a good test to see if he belongs there. Fighters at the weight: Holt Torres Hatton Pacquiao Witter Urango Bailey Bradley Marquez(should be there after the Mayweather fight, win or lose) D.Hopkins Campbell Ortiz Malignaggi Too good to be true. Khan will have a lot to deal with if he gets by Kotelnik.
Kotelnik lost to Maidana in his last fight in my opinion by at least 3 rounds and Ortiz is fighting Maidana next. Khan will deal with Kotelnik because Khan's speed will force Kotelnik to go into a shell and he wont get chances to open up. Khan will start to put meat onto the shots after the 4th round and he will probably stop Kotelnik by the 8th or 9th round from an accumuation of shots and punishment. Kotelnik is very tough and can take a lot of shots but from what I saw of him in recent fights Kotelnik will either be outworked or stopped, he does not have the speed to trouble Khan. And this fight might be a re-run of the Gary St Clair fight who had a similar high guard style
One of the best divisions right now and I'm sure I'm missing some names worth mentioning in that list.
I've got Khan here. Kotelnik is a good, textbook kind of fighter, but speed bothers him and he'd rather box than brawl. The move to the Wild Card is going to do wonders for Khan, at least at this level of opposition. Can't imagine him beating Bradley, Holt, or even Ortiz though.
