Many all time greats struggled or lost rounds vs lesser competition. If you want to use ranked opponents, Vitali has the best rounds won to round lost in the history of the division.

By the way, Tyson had more problems with swelling and cut more than Vitali did. Vitali only had one bad cut, and it was vs Lewis.

If you watch Bruno vs Tyson, Bruno could have upset him if he had more confidence. As it turns out, Douglas did the job. Tyson had no answer to Douglas jab.

A focussed Tyson should certainly be favored over V. Klitschko. But, on the night that Tyson fought Douglas, he wasn't showing any tenacity AT ALL. Hell, I'm surprised he was able to land that uppercut in round 8 that decked Douglas. It was an open opportunity and not one that he had to make for himself. There was very little upper body movement, an extrememly low punch output and few or no signs of interest. He even had his head lowered in the corner and didn't even seem to be listening to his corner, who's performance by the way was some of the worst corner work that I've seen in a championship fight..

No way does THIS Tyson beat Vitali Klitschko. In fact, I can think of several members of the 1990 top 10 who might have beaten Mike that evening. Even the Tyson who beat Tucker, Berbick, and Spinks would have to work his ass off to make up for the collosal size difference, and in the end may still only result in either a decision win or some sort of freakish stoppage.

You mean using a latex glove filled with water isn't standard procedure for dealing with swelling?

Are you aware of padded records or fighters who fought greats past their primes? Peter McNelley was coming into the Tyson fight 36-1. Before the Chris Byrd fight Dr Ironfists record looked pretty dam soft for such a great fighter??? After the Byrd fight its not that much more impressive. It amazes me both these brothers managed to avoid every decent fighter in the mid 90's. Why no David Izon, Andrew Golota, David Tua, Hasim Rahman, Oleg Maskaev, Shannon Briggs, Oliver Mcall, these were the marginal fighters that were in the top ten. The rest were garbage for the most part. Besides Lennox Lewis and Sam Peter. Klitschko never faced a fighter that had any punching power??:deal:huh

It amazes you how they avoided every fighter in the 1990's? You are aware they turned pro in November 1996. Its not like they had a lot of time to fight many ranked guys in the 1990's.:deal

Also, I think Hide, and Sanders hit plenty hard. So to say Vitali did not face power punchers is wrong.:deal

He was still a contender during the time all these other guys were fighting each other, when they were, in fact he could have used them to get ranked by one of the main three governing bodies. Hide is a cruiserweight for the most part with no signficant wins. Sanders could punch, but he was pretty far past his best when he fought Vitali, and Im talking about coming up the ranks, its not an impressive resume, especially with the two main names with a loss next to them.

I think the February 1990 version of Buster Douglas could possibly cut up Vitali with that very good jab of his and the combos he threw against Tyson which included a crisp right hand and jarring uppercuts.

Buster Douglas on that night had it all. He would have beat alot of men who are better than him on that night. That Douglas beats Vitali.

James "Butthole" Douglas was a GREAT one hit wonder in 1990........... Mind you, he also flopped like a whale that very year, as well..............

I don't think Douglas is going to deal with a taller guy in there very well. The ideal opponent for him is a real short opponent like a Tyson and he can move in and out and pepper away with a jab. Box. The problem with Vitali would be that tactic keeps him in the Vitali range and Douglas wouldn't be going forward. He is going to have to absorb a lot & I don't think he does and I sure don't think a Douglas can come from behind very well. tko8, like lots of of Vitali Klitschko opponents that get 1-2'd to death.
