Current Potential ATG's From Each Weight Class - Pick Em'

Well Vic hasnt really done enough at 112 or 115 to be ATG there...he will be remembered right up there at 115 I imagine but short of great.

Now he is at 118...he has to pretty much do impossible to be an ATG there..I dont think the opposition is there for him to bag such an accolade.

I think he will go down as weight jumping great if at all....I reckon he wants Vasqeuz after this fight.

Im liking JuanMa aswell but I dont know I just dont get that excited about fighters anymore...I dont really make big calls like that.

 

Vic certainly warrants discussion here Rock, and let's hope he is as well remembered in time as he is entitled to be.

Juan Manuel lopez could become great. This is the first fighter i have seen who i think wow.

Im a huge fan of his since i first saw him way before he became champ.

i think the obvious answer here is BHOP at MW and RJJ at SMW/LHW

 

I'm not sold on JuanMa, yet. I like Donaire better, but still think he's a tad limited. Not that it should matter, as it's not like there are any elite level all arounders in his weight class to expose him, what with the Mijares fall from grace.

 

Adamek could be ATG. He was a LHW champion and now is dominating CW division and has a potential to do even more.

 

I can't pin it down to anything more than extreme overconfidence (arrogance, really), which lead to disaster against a brutal puncher in Darchinyan. When your head is inflated to such proportions it's difficult to recover mentally once it's popped. I'm not sure he'll ever recover, even if he still has the skills. Shame, he was the closest thing I've seen to a sure thing since I've been following the sport (that hadn't already hit it big). We can all learn from that, I'm sure.

Donaire is anohter good fighter and hes quite young as well these guys have a good few years of learning ahead of them which will shape them

You could. It's just hard to accept for me having watched Mijares at his best. He never got anything going, even prior to being hurt. He neglected everything that had made him one of the most impressive technicians in previous bouts. But I guess Darchinyan just took that out of him early. I think if Mijares had his head he may not have been caught sleeping so quickly and the fight could've possibly taken another route. But that's all speculation.

i have only ever seen Mijares when he fought Darchinyan as i only really got into boxing about 2 years ago and have only been watching every fight from US and Europe the last few months.

Darchinyan looke very good in that fight though

 

A lot of people had extremely high hopes for Mijares, myself included, prior to the Darchinyan fight. He was very highly favored to win. It seemed like one of those sure things to a lot of us. Boy, were we wrong, but the guy did everything prior to make me believe he was the next P4P king. Just a total meltdown against Darchinyan.

Watch his fights from his TKO victory over Kawashima in their second fight to the Sasakul fight (even though he was shot) and you'll be able to see the skills he exhibitied prior to the Darch fight, where he showed almost none of them. Then again, Vic has to be given credit if his power was able to throw Mijares off that badly.
