getting adjusted to a higher weight class usually takes a few fights. Thats why people have tuneups. Your body adjusts and grows into the weight even though on the scale you weigh the same thing. You get used to fighting with those extra pounds, and you gets used to the difference in punching power and speed that you and your opponents are dealing with.
That and your body slowly gets used to it and you end up looking like you belong there. A good example is Pacquiao when he moved up for the Morales fight, he looked smaller the first time around and as they had more fights he started looking similar size to bigger in the last meeting.
He wouldn't just take it. He'd **** a disgracefully large turd on anything Pacman has done his entire career.
Height, reach, etc are not really good indicators of size. Paul Williams is both taller and has a better reach than Sam Peter I don't think that we really need a thread to debate who is the bigger man.
:rofl Seriously, the odds don't say it, but Marquez over Mayweather would be an absolutely massive upset. It would damn near force Manny into a third fight IMO.
Marquez should definitely go number 1 if he beats Mayweather. The only way I see him beating Mayweather is if he starts with a high workrate, doesn't get clipped and keeps Mayweathers workrate below par by effective countering, he will have to fight the fight of his life to do it even if Mayweather is ring rusty. If Mayweather has to come in at 144lbs who is to say that this weight wont effect him either because he looked pretty ripped at 147 so It may affect him slightly in the later stages of the fight especially after such a long lay off to have to sizzle down to 144 when he is used to weighing in at 147. Even if he is a small Welter I think he is more comfortable weighing in at 147 than 144 or below
YES, without disrespecting the pacman who i like, first of all, the 2 fights against jmm were very close, personally I have seen the pac-jmm 2 fight a lot of times and always score the same 114-113 for jmm, so at least i would say 1 goes for jmm, but doesnt matter who won they were very close both fights so after that I dont think the pacman has taken more dangerous fights than jmm, you could say ODLH in which he was not the favorite but I didnt see a healthy dlh that night without taking any merit to what pac did, he did everything correct, the problem is that odlh didnt show up, so i would say... Beating Casamayor, Juan Diaz and FMJ is so much better than beating David Diaz, odlh and RH... Its pretty simple, jmm went up in weight taking the biggest challenges while pacman didnt, David Diaz and Ricky Hatton were made for Pacman style while Juan Diaz and Casamayor wasnt a nice matchup for jmm and comparing to beat FMJ at 144 is a so much better win than beating ODLH at 147, I dont see how someone could think the opposite, IMHO... So thats why i would say jmm would go to the top #1 p4p without question, the thing is that i really dont see him beating fmj...
YES!!! JMM currently fights at 135, moving 2 divisions up to meet at 147 lb Floyd who is a former Jr MW champ. Isn't this obvious enough?
INTERESTING REPLY. I wonder what the DIE-HARD JMM would say.... BUT PLS DIVAC spare me the JMM was robbed reasoning ok?!
Marquez, up till now has had quite thin legs. if he piles on a few pounds on his legs, then maybe he'll gain a bit more stability and not lose too much speed? This content is protected
