Yeah, I think it was a family member from his wifes side.

I agree, Atlas did go a little overboard with Tyson. I just think it was probably a combination of things. After reading a few of the books that came out about Tyson, especially the one Jose Torres did on Mike, Atlas seen Tyson getting progressively worse and knew it was only a matter of time before he did something serious enough to put him in jail or killed. I think Atlas did that to Tyson to scare him straight, and stand up to the bully so few people did. It of course backfired on him and he was no longer a part of Tyson's soon after that incident.

Also if you believe Atlas, Tyson had already been doing this for a lot longer. Finally he did something about it as only Teddy Atlas could...like a complete psychopath.

I think it was too short notice for Showtime.
They probably don't have as much flexibility in their scheduling as ESPN does....especially ESPN Classic, which ESPN can use as
a "standby" channel for anything they want to air on short notice.

I'm sorry but when the opportunity to land a shot against my competitors, I'll bend whatever budget I can to get it done.

I agree...but apparently Showtime does not share that same feeling.

I guess in the end it doesn't really matter as long as US fans can see the fight.

 I take it you read Teddy Atlas' book? I know I did a few years back when it came out, you would of thought you were reading a biography on Chuck Norris or something, the way Atlas talks about some of his street fights.

I worked nights and the guy working with me had a copy of it. I burnt through it in about 2 nights. Funny stuff.

    Klitschko vs Chagaev.......interesting.

Maybe ya'll can pay to watch me beat up a three year old next week. That's about how competitive this fight will be.

    HBO knows what it's doing.

Will Atlas actually interview Wlad after the fight? If so, what does he say or ask?

TA: Congrats (yeah right) Wladimir on your easy win. How hard was it beating up a hepatitis infected corpse and why did it take you so long to stop him?
WK: What? I ko'd him in the first 20 seconds of round one!?
TA: Yeah, but we all know a real fighter would have done the job in less time than that. More after this word from our sponsor....

It was an alright read, I just thought some of the stories sounded made up or exagerated to make the book seem more enertaining.

I'm not defending Tyson, he should of been reprimanded.

But he was like 15. Putting a loaded gun to his head is way too far.

Steve Kim confirmed this on his forum. He says the fight will officially be aired on ESPN Classic.

Good. Now those who want to see it state side have the opportunity, and HBO saves money to put forward to another fight or two later this year.
