Hatton in the us never draw over 300k ppv without the names of Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Well for one those are completely different levels of expectations. Floyd Mayweather Jr is a charismatic american boxer (which is important) with a built in fan base and a built in reputation. If he does 350K it IS disappointing because the top star in the sport shouldn't bring in numbers that low. I don't think Floyd is a poor draw (Bernard Hopkins and Jermain Taylor are poor draws) but there ARE heightened expectations here because of who he is.

And people expected Mosley/Cotto to draw 500K mainly because of Mosley. It did 350-400K. Obviously below the mark but still good. People expected Margo vs Cotto to bring in 200K, it did 500K.

So the guy definitely can bring in viewers and bring in money even if it's a niche fanbase. Manny Pac vs David Diaz barely touched 225K buys...is Pac not a draw?

Anyways what does does Floyd have to do with Miguel being a draw? One has neither to do with the other. They can both draw money (and apparently both do).

Cotto-Mosley did around 380K, which is still more than anything Floyd did pre De La Hoya. And what do you mean "considering he was fighting Mosley?" According to Floyd Mosley isn't a PPV attraction. According to Ellerbe "Mosley has never been on the a-side of an equation. So what is it?

Cotto isn't a huge draw, but to say he's not a draw at all is laughable.

There isn't really a huge draw in boxing anymore though now that Oscar has retired and RJJ has been pushed to the left of irrelevancy.

What you have are a bunch of guys who can draw well seperately but COLLECTIVELY can bring in a mass profit. You just need to put them together.

There's a reason Mosley and Margarito can pack a house of 25,000 some odd people together but do poorly on their own. Likewise on Juan Diaz and JMM.

Hatton never had a ppv in the US apart from the Mayweather and Pac fight.

I'm not the one who brought Mayweather in the discussion, it was started by some other poster in this thread who claims Hatton is DLH/Tyson quality when it comes to draw power and we picked it up from there.

About the PPV numbers it all depends on opponents, situation, time and the way they preview the fight to the public. They know how to make a fight big and that's previous opposition of both opponents which is why I believe the support for a Marquez fight with Mayweather is huge. Pac's last three foes: Hatton, DLH, Marquez(I know it's supposed to be Diaz, no disrespect to him but Marquez takes that spot) and Mayweather's last three: DLH, Hatton and Marquez. Take that and advertise it when you already have two established well known fighters, that has record breaking written all over it, maybe I'm exaggerrating but I honestly feel it will be close. That's how I believe they make certain PPVs look better than other ones despite similarities like Pacquiao/Diaz and Baldomir/Mayweather.

As far as Cotto is concerned he's a decent draw, I wouldn't say a huge draw but a decent draw and future fights/results will only improve or make things worse. A major draw?, not yet.

I don't give a **** about using PPV numbers in the USA to compare one fighter from the USA and one from the Philippines. All I care is that the fighters are fairly paid and at this level I don't have that concern... 'PPV numbers' and 'being a draw' can suck my dick.

Mayweather needs to fight some bloody Welterweights. You can be sure if Cotto, Mosley or Williams were P4P 1/2 Mayweather would be so far into retirement even Ellerbe would loose interest with him.

Cotto vs Mosley did 380k, that's Cotto and Mosley, two established well known guys. Baldomir/Mayweather did 350k, that's 30k less, more than anything?

I'm not Ellerbe so don't quote him as he's me please. Mosley did $450k fighting Vargas the first time and did $350k fighting Vargas in the rematch, get your facts straight.

I never said he's not a draw, he is a draw but not a major one yet.

True. This tells me all of these dudes (Floyd, Pac, or Hatton) need a strong b-side to do well on PPV. That's why I think it's laughable when the camps, or fans of the fighters, claim that they're man deserves more than the other because he brings in so much money. When realistically they all need each other to generate big bucks. None of them are on a Tyson or De La Hoya level where they can sell out arenas and rake up high PPV numbers fighting cadavers. That is the true mark of being a real "draw" to me.

Him signing fo 5 fights has every single indication that he plans to continue fighting and will eventually fight the guys you want him to and others want him to. The Marquez fight isn't his last one so stop acting like an idiot.

You might not give a **** about PPV numbers and money in general, why would you?, who the hell are you again?, these guys will definitely give a **** because it goes in their bank accounts so learn to accept that and try to understand that it plays a MAJOR role in boxing discussions.

For now enjoy jumping threads like an ape telling people who you think has a glass jaw and who has an iron jaw.

Hatton is like Cotto on his grandest level. A niche fanbase that will buy or pay for anything the guy does.

Removing David Diaz just makes your argument look better..but inaccurate.

I'm willing to bet it won't break the box office of ODLH vs Mayweather. Hatton vs Pac was still selling seats until the week of. Oscar De La Hoya was boxing's version of an ATM machine and now that he's gone, I expect the HUGE million buy numbers to die down. I'd say it'll do what Hatton vs Floyd or Hatton vs Pac did...anywhere from 800K to the base of 1M buys.

Nobody in boxing is a huge draw though. I'd say if you listed the top 10 "draws" in boxing today. Miguel would be in there. Not at the top perhaps but in the mix. I mean how many draws are above him when it comes to live gate, PPV and all that jazz?

My point is that the sport has a bunch of collective good draws who need to be put into fights against one another to become BIG money draws. All I'm sayin.

Floyd Mayweather Jr was the #1 P4P fighter. He SHOULD be drawing that sort of numbers.

If you really want to play the #s game about fighters being draws...Manny vs Morales III only did 350K. Cotto vs Mosley with less the rivalry and with less backing it did more than that. It doesn't make Mosley or Cotto a bigger name than Manny...it just shows how most numbers are subjective.

And if you really want to talk about disappointing PPV numbers, Bob Arum was sure that Pac vs Morales would top 1 MILLION buys. Again subjective numbers.

You're a moron. I acknowledged I want to see the fighters well paid. Seriously, I feel like I am corresponding with the man himself - Leonard Ellerbe here. Constant emphasis on PPV, 'being a draw' etc.

Jumping like an ape? Very, VERY disappointing insult.

What facts? I said Cotto-Mosley did more buys on PPV than any Floyd fight pre-De La Hoya, which you confirmed in your post. I didn't say a thing about Mosley's PPV numbers with Vargas.

Not only did you not say "Cotto is NOT a draw" but you put it in capital letters. :huh

Umm yes he has. Hatton was on a us ppv fight vs Carlos in Hatton 1st or second title defense of the ibf junior welterweight championship.
