great match up, toney had a great chin, i think he survives the early storm and slowly breaks mclellan down round by round and stops him late

Terrible matchup for G-man. Toney would kick his ass almost every round. A fighter like G-man would really motivate JT to be at his best. And Toney at his best would be FAR too skilled for Gerald.

Toney by UD, or possible late TKO.

Depends on whether the g-man gets to bring in some dogs he trained to fight, of course, if they didnt perform up to standard he would kill the dogs. if he gets to bring in the dogs he would probably win. oh, he is badly ****ed up, karma is a *****.

That has nothing to do with this thread. Regardless your opinion of the person, this is about him as a fighter.

    Toney by SD.

this is the typical wise-ass comment. these ******s have never watched the fighters they talk about, so they pull something straight outta their ass in an attempt to sound knowledgeable. why bother posting?

Not a peta activist just dont like cruel assholes. prefer a champion to show some dignity and integrity in and out of the ring. didnt like what Vick did either. that is ****. represent the sport and yourself as a man with some dignity and honor. hey, we could just go back to the gladiator days and kill christians in the arena. there will come a time possibly, when society looks back on boxing as the brutal sport it is. im guilty, i have done it, i have fought. i have hurt other men for money. but, im sort of like Howard Cossel, i know it is wrong on some levels. but, i admire and appreciate the courage, skill and beauty involved. however, an animal is completely at your mercy. supposedly, God gave us dominion over all creatures. In my humble opinion that does not absolve us from dealing cruelly with his creature. karma, is a *****.

You exposing yourself as the hypocrite you are. Why say you 'dont like cruel assholes' then proceed to show your glee hes in the state hes in now??

THEN you state Man is above animals which is correct. Yet you proceed bring him down to the level of an animal and claim this 'karma' thing got him.:-(.

And you somehow claim God would want this?? God loves man, God will judge man... You should pray for gerald then not jump on hes back and ridicule him in the state hes in. Hypocrite!

I like Toney by decision or late ko.He's just too smart for Gerald and his great defensive skills-shoulder roll etc. nullify Gerald's power.

the man said karma got the g-man. saying the man got what he deserves does not equal expressing glee about it. i'd prefer that the gman is healthy today and fighting for animal rights, but hey it didn't work out that way.

and karma works on man as much if not more than on animals.

    Toney tears G-Man up.

This is a really bad style match-up for G-Man.

Great matchup. Almost the same age, same era, and only missed each other by the narrowest of margins (and circumstance of course).

Gerald stepped right up to SMW and fought for the title (directly from being the middleweight champ). Gerald fought Benn in early '95 while Toney lost to RJJ in late '94. I think McClellan had the frame to become the dominant SMW as RJJ had moved up to LHW by late '96. Perhaps a fight or two at SMW might have been better than meeting the more mature Benn in '95 (immediately in a championship fight (away) in a higher weight class - though he almost finished the job in the very 1st round). Gerald was a huge talent. He would have gave Toney (and ANYBODY) plenty of difficulty and had the power to do a "Reggie Johnson".

Without injury, McClellan would have had a brilliant second fight with Benn and coming into his full prime definitely would have dominated the division (considering the mediocrity of the division's talent pool or more specifically the two timid long-reigning beltholders) for many, many years. He would have walked over and destroyed Ottke and Calzaghe and beaten even more talented opposition like Frankie Liles.
