    Kooner's battle of Britain

Tecumseh boxer faces Fury in England debut

Tecumseh native Andrew Singh Kooner will be back in the ring Saturday.
The Birmingham-born fighter will make his British boxing debut on the undercard of the Junior Witter-DeMarcus Corley world championship fight at London's famed Alexandra's Palace in Wigan, England.
Kooner, who has an 8-1 record as a pro, will face unbeaten Tyson Fury.

"This year has to be the year that I make my mark on the world scene," Kooner said.
"I would love a shot at the British and Commonwealth belts in the next few months and I really want to work my way to a world title shot."
Kooner hopes that an impressive win on the undercard will put him in the frame for a title fight.

Kooner enjoyed a productive amateur career, which included 10 Canadian titles, a European junior gold medal, a world junior silver medal, bronze and silver medals at consecutive Commonwealth Games and appearances at the Sydney and Athens Olympics.

Injuries though have sidelined the 30-year-old since last September.
"The past several months have been really frustrating for me," the five-foot-five, 118-pound Kooner said.
"I've been forced to watch on from ringside and that's been very hard because every fibre of my being was dying to get back in to the ring.
"I was even in the gym with a heavy cast training like a mad man. I'm not sure if my doctor would have approved, but I was obsessed with getting back in the gym and fighting again."

Great article!!! I've seen a few of Kooners fights and he's a very good boxer but not THAT good that good he can take on the HWs.
