Because you mentioned Tomasz Adamek in a thread about ATG's.

To be blunt, he's just nowhere near that level. I'd never put him as a guy with anything near all time great potential, especially seeing as how he's already in his prime. I don't see how you could to be honest. A guy who's making his living in a barren division because he couldn't hang with the likes of Chad Dawson at LHW? Not even close.

 

Dwight Muhammad Qawi was officialy voted ATG. I belive that Adamek is able to have better career than Qawi.
CW isnt barrow. Small amount of Americans at top 200 rankings doesnt mean that div is weak Steve Cunningham is one of the most underrated fighters in the game, especially in his country own...
Adamek lost to Dawson because of struggling with weight and Buddy McGirt in his corner. I hope that those two will have a rematch at CW some day (maybe before Adamek turns 40).

Adamek has some intruiging options:

Dawson rematch
Cunningham rematch
Hopkins
HW division

so there is bi oppurtunity to earn results that could make him a ATG

 

I doubt if Adamek would last more than 7-8 rounds with Qawi, who I don't really consider an all timer in the first place.

 

I don't necessarily think Darchinyan is a better fighter. If you've only seen Mijares fight Vic, I suggest you watch his fights with guys like Alexander Munoz, Jorge Arce, Jose Navarro etc when he was at the top of his game. He was a joy to watch from a technical stand-point.

Styles indeed make fights, but I thought Mijares had a better style match-up, Vic is indeed very awkward and hits hard, but Mijares was such an excellent technician I thought he'd have a field-day with a slugger sort of type like Vic who primarily looks to knock guys out and throw power punches.

More on topic, I think it's hard to gauge. I mean we have no idea how many fighters will emerge in the future and possibly upset the balance of things, I mean for all we know - say we take Nonito Donaire fighting at 115-118 - those 2 divisions could suddenly become stark with talent with all the best guys moving up or retiring or slipping away, and he'll be left with slim pickings with which to build an ATG resume.

However, I do think guys with the talent like Donaire has, or Juan Manuel Lopez, have a great chance as long as they can stay at the top of their game and they take chances and fight the best fighters around. What is in their balance aswell is they have the type of frames and skills and intangibles where they can move up and be successful in a number of weight divisions.

 

He can be great in a very limited, historically, division. Relative to the talent level in that divisions history, you know?

 

Calderon could be another Ricardo Lopez on the making.

Arthur Abraham has an old school toughness about him that I like but would need to get fights with Pavlik and Sturm before making an impression at super-middle/light heavy???

 

I think Juanma, Dawson and Donaire will end up going down as all time greats. They have the potential anyway, others i see with a decent shot are

Korobov
Jacobs

Also i have high hopes for rigondeaux but after 1 fight its far far to early, after another 5 or so we will see if he has a decent shot

 

Perhaps, but there's not a single fighter that's fought at CW outside of Holyfield (mostly for what he proved of himself at Heavyweight) that I'd consider anything near an all time great. Is it possible Adamek can become one of the most accomplished fighters to have fought in the division? I guess, but that really isn't saying much.

 

Qawi isn't an all time great, a good win for spinks's resume but he gets overrated.

 

donaire with his height and skill is a h2h demon at 112

 

Like I said, great relative to the best in that divisions history.

 

in the amteurs there is Vasyl Lomechenko

Technically Calderon is brillaint he employs a bit more head movement and is abit more fluid than Lopez but he really lacks power. But he is a good fighter i think hes a top fighter in Straw/Light Fly weight
