Gatti was the WBC Light Welterweight champion.

baldomir was lineal, and gatti was wbc champ and you can make a claim like one poster said earlier, he did fight the best at 135 and under.

How convenient he picks out the "man" at Welterweight when it's Baldomir and took multiple fights to target a beltholder when it's Gatti.

Imagine if he'd flipped flop that gameplan, moved up a little earlier, and fought Tszyu at 140 and Mosley at 147 instead.

Prior to 140, there wasn't anything wrong with Floyd's opposition though.

    Obviously not.

Tszyu, Mosley, Cotto, Williams, Margarito. Perhaps we will add Pacquiao to that, if Floyd keeps up his 60% of the purse BS.

    Close thread.

If he'd 'always fought the best' he'd be fighting Molsey or Cotto at 147.

    its easy to say no...

    when you factor in

    risk/reward
    availability
    future goals

    his resume makes more sense

And Mayweather sure seems to like to get into situations where easier fights are available. :yep

Like when he announced he was fighting Marquez... Aw damn, Pac is not available because he's fighting TODAY :rofl
