Crocop was basically the Mike Tyson of MMA, so no. I'd rank him on par with Nogueira for a shared no. 2 spot on my list of ATG mma heavyweights.

At his best he was a master at take down defence and striking.

Better than a prime Chuck at both imo.

He had better boxing than a prime Chuck along with an equal sprawl.

 

Just look at his record. He is a top 5 mma heavy, arguably top 3.

 

When he fought Wanderlei the first time Cro Cop had been in MMA only a year he had little grappling skills and Silva knew that so he took him down in almost every round which was only 3 minute rounds so almost every round was a takedown for Silva and thats it. When Cro Cop was more experienced in the rematch he ate Wanderlei alive and put him to sleep and that was before everyone else starting KOing Wanderlei. He got caught by a monster shot by a dangerous former UFC Champ in Randleman ok it happens he got his rematch and choked him out proving who the better fighter was. Fedor and Nogueira the 2 best Heavyweights ever and he fought them very tough very damn tough. He failed in the UFC yes the 1st time he has his chance to take care of that now. To answer the question I always did feel he was a tad bit overatted but his greatness can never be questioned. Hes arguablly the greatest striker in MMA history and has beat a whos whos list Wanderlei Silva,Josh Barnett THREE TIMES,Mark Coleman,Kevin Randleman,Igor Vochanchayn,Heath Herring,Fujita,Sakuraba,Aleksander Emelienko and not to mention the winner of a star studed 2006 Grand Prix this dude beat Silva and Barnett in the same night and brutally.

 

Yup I think no doubt its Fedor then Nogueira top 2 and the 3rd postion could go with maybe Barnett,Cro Cop or Couture thats my top 5. Cro Cop does own 3 victorys over Barnett so its hard to rank him ahead of Cro Cop and the only thing Randy truely has over Cro Cop is actually being a Champion. Id probablly still go with Cro Cop at 3 his overall body of work is much more impressive then Coutures in the Heavyweight divison.

Crocop is a top 5 HW in MMA history, around there at least.

 

How can they share it ? Nog beat Cro Cop and was actually the Champ at one time.

 

It's basically just a personal preference.

I guess objectively Nog should be ahead of Crocop, but I'm just not that into his style. To me, it's like comparing Roy Jones to Bernard Hopkins; one is a flashy and and entertaining fighter who wins very convincingly when he wins, the other is generally boring, but so crafty that he always manages to pull through.

 

Stop surfing Sherdog looking at fighters records it makes you look like a tit. You must be new to MMA. CC is an MMA ATG and in his prime was a stud. His highlight reel KO's were legendary. He did get KO'ed by Randleman but then he put that to bed in there second fight when he choked Kevin out. No one expected Randleman to do that in their first bout and CC took him lightly and got what was coming to him. Frankly though it was a hail mary which has been the story of Randleman's career.

If you want to see an on game CC watch the OWGP from 2006. CC wanted it so bad that he utterly brutalised Silva in their rematch. Suffice to say the beating was so bad Silva has never been the same since. As for Barnett he just rolled over him and Barnett tapped from the strikes.

And go and watch the Fedor fight. Fedor said that was his hardest fight to date in what was a more competitive fight than any of Fedor's bouts with Big Nog. As for the Nog fight big deal. CC got armbarred by one the best heavyweight BJJ practitioner of all times. Back then Nog was submitting everyone in site and was PRIDE's best heavyweight. CC is a top 5 ATG in MMA point blank now sign out or delete this dumb thread.

 

Can you imagine prime CC vs prime Couture? That would be carnage mate. To be honest i think Randy is very overrated. If he was in PRIDE during the early 2000's he would have been the equivalent of Enson Inoue

 

thumbsup Let them know player. Personally i think Wandy CC 2 is by far the most brutal fight iv ever seen in a PRIDE ring. That was nasty to watch espcially the KO. Wandy was out cold and his eye swollen beyond recognition because of a broken eye socket.
