Kelly Pavlik Vs Carl Froch: Arum - "Could Happen As Early As Next Jan"

This post pretty much confirms what i have long suspected.
You know next to nothing about boxing.

Taylor is NOT a counter puncher.
Froch's foot work does not exist.
Froch's defense does not exist.
Froch's offense is extremely sloppy.
Pavlik is faster, stronger, bigger, and does pretty much EVERYTHING better than Froch.

Pavlik doesn't seem as good at the higher weights, and if Taylor and Hopkins can stun him, Froch can stop him.


of course, they had fast hands, with Froch doesn't have. But I don't rate Pavlik as high as some, and at 168 he'll struggle with a beast like Froch, who will outmuscle him.

 

Taylor isn't a counter puncher? And you say i don't know anything about boxing? Hmmmmmm Watch Taylor-Froch, he was countering Froch after almost everything he did, and there's a youtube video where Froch stated that he was getting countered a lot. There were also times where Taylor was countering over Hopkin's jab and he also countered Kelly a lot in both of their fights. Revisit Jermain Taylor..

My point was that Froch's footwork is far more than the footwork of Pavlik, which is non exsistent. He has a very good one two, but he walks in straight lines and against upper echelon opponents like a Froch, that will not be very effective.

See Froch/Pascal. In the later stages of that fight when Carl had to pace himself, he was winning those later rounds with his jab alone and he was also using the ring with slight movement. Google some of his earlier fights as well, he is not as one dimsensional as he looks. Hes a very good boxer and counter puncher, he has that style because its very sneaky and he looks to catch his opponents with unexpected power counter shots.

And Pavlik has a great defense in your opinion? If so, see Pavlik/Zurtuchi, Pavlik/Miranda, Pavlik/Taylor, and especially Pavlik/Hopkins. Froch did not get hit a lot before his fight with Pascal. IMO you have to be a fast boxer or skillful counter puncher in order to be able to CONSISTENTLY hit Froch.

Against a skillful fighter like Taylor, a lot of fighter's offense will be sloppy.

It's kind of a shame that people outside of the heartland and south can't draw the distinction between redneck, hillbilly and trailer trash. Fine lines separate them, but there is quite a bit of difference between them all...
