Or does he lose his claim cause he retired and came back?

He's as lineal at 147 as Vitali is at heavy.

This kind of thread is only a new argument for the Joyboys to use, you know that right?

I don't see how it can end with Cory Spinks, seeing as he lost his lineal title in the ring. He didn't move up or retire.

Technically, he's not lineal champ but with Mayweather it doesn't really matter. He's at superstar status so the public will want to see him fight the best regardless of weight. Namely, Marquez, who to date has given the #1 fighter his best fights. He will fight Pacman probably in December or probably next year. After Pac I hope he fights Mosley, or Cotto depending on how Cotto does against Clottey.

So if the #1 P4P happens to be a featherweight or a bantam for that matter, he has to fight them. :huh But maybe he will :lol::lol:. I would want to see Floyd vs Vitali :tired.

Dempsey didnt lose his HW linear title after messing about and not fight for 3-4years, so actually Mayweather is still linear champion

    **** no.
Once he retired thats it, no No1 P4P, no No1 welterweight, no lineal champ.

Same as Vitali, he was No1 heavyweight before in retired though injury.

Did he become No1 heavy when he anounced his comeback? No, because there was someone better there(though it was his brother).

The current welters may or may not be better than Floyd, but if he wants to be No1/lineal welter again, he's got to fight welters!
    :deal :good

No, the lineage left him when he "retired"
