Why is Pacquiao so popular in the US and the Klit brothers aren't?

Nobody (and most particularly no American professional athletes) believes the Klitschkos are very good. It is as simple as that. Whereas Europeans resist the belief that the three major sports - NFL/NBA/MLB - are the reason for the weakness in the heavyweight division, Americans know that there are greater more athletic big men (they're just not pursuing boxing). As such, it would take great talent to impress and the brothers are merely average athletes with better size than their opponents. How could that possibly impress anyone? Most watch their fights and think "you know if they were a little bit smaller they'd sort of suck". Truth.

I don't agree. Blank has it right in his post above.
I think it the Heavyweights where it is the most possible to be popular in a talentless era. We don't expect another Tyson...but people want excitement. The Klit have no charisma...they have no fire.

I've had to actual apologize TWICE to friends after making them watch a Klit fight. And you'd think that they would eventually forgive me...but no...

Have you ever watched Wlad V Ibragimov?

It was like watching two Russians impersonate John Ruiz or something.

I can't think of a boring Pac fight...

Boxing fans need a cinderella heroes who came from nowhere and became millionaires like Pac but they also need bad "red alert" Ivan Dragos who are supposed to be beaten by brave american heroes. But the problem in that when "red alert" came american heroes appeared few levels below.

With all due respect to the Klitschkos, who have they fought? Though really no fault of their own, the division is and has been CRAP during their reign. You can't expect those guys to keep pace with an exciting, charismatic powder keg who's been in epic wars with LEGENDARY fighters. Pacquiao's had 9 fights against probable HOFers. In those fights he's 7-1-1 with 5KOs. Wlad and Vitali combined can't find 2 HOFers on their resume.

And how many fighters have the KO ratios of the Klitschkos? If they can't fight, they put Pac into the ring with them.

Vitali Klitschko sold out at MSG, New York during a huge snowstorm. Vitali and Vlad's fights always sell out. Klitschko are boring to the hates because they keep knocking out the hater's heroes. Haters are so frustrated that they continue to make up a lot of lies. Dream on scum.

Just out of curiosity which fights?

I think Wladimir's cautious style is partly to blame. I have no doubt he CAN blow away competition but after being defeated twice in the manner he lost... well you can hardly fault him.

As far as excitement, I do know there is no comparison. Very few fighters can be as exciting as Pacquiao these days. I just think that if a few fighters can actually FORCE any of the brothers to fight, then they MIGHT get some more recognition.

Vlad keeps knocking out almost everyone. Lewis was boring against Tua, not to mention many others. Lewis was knocked by McCall and Rahman. I remember when Lewis was called boring. Nobody is as boring as Void. Klitschkos keep selling out.

This is a big part of it. They fit perfectly into a stereotype that has been hammered into the USA's subconcious as something to loathe.

Even the "robotic" references are an indication of this. They aren't free-willed real people like democratic Americans; they are mere automatons - slaves of communism in which all people are made into nothing other then mindless robots.
Such mindless robots are also "boring" - another word that is thrown around about the Klits. Nothing like Americans, with all their free will and democracy. They are quiet and they dont trash talk... again so boring, so robotic.... so like the stereotypical communist russians that the American psyche still sneers at.

Add the American cultural predisposition towards such a skewed perspective, with the bruised American ego of not having any decent Heavyweights in a division they have historically been so proud of....

It's nice to see those Americans who can rise above such muddled motivations and appreciate the Klits for what they are: effective fighters with a habit of winning. Articulate and generous ambassadors for the sport who fight the public image of boxing as being neanderthalic. KO artists who seem to want to fight the best.

Pacman is a much more exciting boxer then the Klitschko brothers. Also the Klitchkos need to stop fighting bums and take on some real competition and they will earn the respect here in North America.
