Anybody have news on who Jamie Moore will be fighting next? I think Maloney needs to stop farting about and get him a title shot now that he's number 3 in the WBC, as well as being ranked high in other sanctioning bodies too.
He is fighting for the EBU against some Polish guy isn't he, at leats thats what they are saying on the Polish boxing thread
I know he's rated by the WBC at number three but I just wanted to know if anyone had information who he's next opponent is, or might be?
Maloney is going to lobby the WBC to make Moore (and Munroe) mandatories. Munroe is ranked no.2 at SBW. http://www.sportinglife.com/boxing/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=boxing/09/06/12/manual_115400.html
I haven't seen anything of Nishioka to be honest.... so as to Munroe's chances I have no idea. There is very little point in either of them hanging round at Euro level anymore.... Munroe has beaten everyone barring Bernard Dunne, whilst Moore finally got his chance and won by KO. The depth in both divisions isn't all that good at this level, time to move. I know the age old thing about waiting for a weak champion, or jumping straight in with one (see Naz for that) but sometimes you have to just get on with it - that scenario certainly applies here. Moore looked crap in a few fights after the Macklin one because he wasn't motivated. He had the EBU fight scheduled for the British card of Hatton vs Mayweather yet had to wait 15 months and beat a selection of duffers in order to get there.
i think gonzalez had nishioka down in the first round of that fight and they said he was looking comfortable till the ko.great shot though
I think Munroe is much more cagey than Gonzalez.... would be surprised if he left himself as wide open as that. Speed might be an issue.... that dude looks pretty quick. Munroe would most likely be the bigger and stronger guy in there but he lacks power.
I don't think Munroe is much good at world class though. Not sure he has any outstanding attributes at that level that he'd have at Euro class. He's pretty big...strong..okay work-rate...okay skills...average power. He's a solid fighter but I don't see him getting much done. It would be good if we could see him against somebody like Maludrottu. He's only fought Martinez which is one distinct type of style. Maludrottu came up well short at world level, so if Munroe did a similar job we'd know he's world class.
Yeah I tend to agree. If he could improve the timing and technique of his punches slightly I would be much more confident. Decent defence, solid chin and has an awkward style....
