And might add that they 8 rounder was Ross Thompson who won 1 round on 1 score card, and never fought again.
I see nothing wrong with a 50/50 split purse. Both fighters have the right to command a decent amount of coin.
Abraham is a titlist who holds a title Taylor vacated. Pavlik is The World Middleweight Boxing Champion; the man who beat the man who beat the man! Don't confuse the two. Or else, This:finger
Pavlik beat the man then lost to the man who the man beat. In other words....eh? Took myself for a loop there. Point is both are champions and since one isn't a tremendous draw over the other (Pavlik has the lowest rated WCB showcase ever and a 220K PPV to his name, Abraham has never had a big fight in the US ever). Basically a 50/50 or 55/45 split seems fair.
Pavlik vs. Abraham will be another knockout reel on Arthur's hat. Pavlik vs. Froch would be intriguing, and a slugfest.
No brainer . . . it's Pavlik vs AA. Both have legal claims for the Best Middle Weight fighter of this era, both are title holders so what can be better than a unification fight and settling the issue.
AA fight is overdue. Sturm wants easy fights. King Arthur vs Pavlik needs to happen for 160 supremacy!
Have to agree 100% with this. Even though either fight would be good, have to have the Pavlik vs AA at middleweight first.
Damn straight. The middleweight division has a very clear lineage thanks to the decade long dominance of Bernard Hopkins. Kelly Pavlik is the middleweight champion and Arthur Abraham should by all rights be considered his number one contender.
Honestly, i've given up on 160. Its so pathetic its not funny. You've got two guys who are huge in Germany and have been champions of their respective organisation for years, and at no point have they even come close to fighting. Its an absolute farce. 168 is going to act as a catchweight for quality 160-175 pounders over the next few years. I would rather see Pavlik vs Froch to be honest. Pavlik needs to get out of 160 before he starts wasting away years of his prime.
