CC is a very difficult guy to take down. Gonzaga just beat him standing up. Randy would have to eat a multitude of strikes just to get at CC. His best bet would be like you said to maul him using the dirty boxing and the cage. CC definitly prefers the ring and i still dont think he's used to the cage yet.

Dude thats absolute garbage. Liddell superior to CC in striking? CC spent his early years in the K1 fighting guys like Hoost Hug Bonjansky Aerts Lebanner etc. Those guys are ATG strikers. CC held his own against some of the best strikers in the world and is well reknowned for his devastating striking but you think Chucks lazy strikes -that were exposed when he came to PRIDE and subsequently later in his career when he started fighting strikers instead of feasting on wrestlers- are better than CC's!?!?!?!?

Sanchez was a can. The guy just turned up and that was it. To be honest CC's attitude was the same. I think he thought the UFC belt already had his name written on it. He was riding high off the OWGP BUT this was the same CC that turned up for Randleman 1. Unmotivated and arrogant CC. Dude got his ass handed to him for thinking Gonzaga was just a punk. That being said CC had alot of nagging injuries that i think he has no dealt with. To be honest though the rot has set in. His best days in my opinion are done.

I know people will disagree. Chuck and Henderson face very similar problems. On the heavybag they can hold their hands and throw punches technically correct but in a fight their guard changes because their shoulders/neck are quite stiff and they won't be fluid enough being 'technically correct'. I've seen it many times before. What Liddell would do is then arc his punches alot. That was his major flaw.

But as a striker Chuck at his best had a much more impressive game. I know Cro is fast, powerful, explosive, deadly etc but he never nurtured his unbelievable talent.

I honestly find his footwork quite poor. He often fights at too much of an angle. He often doesn't side step, instead he just walks around. Chucks footwork and range was much better. Guys like Tito and Couture want to take you down but you got to admit Chucks takedown defence could be awesome.

People are going to question the technique of punching. Chuck was a counter puncher, his arc'd punches and open face were designed to make you commit and open up for his bombs.

Cro has a great straight left but then Chucks got a great right hand, no matter what the punch. Chucks left hand was always a range finder or a set you up punch. He'd tap you with it and close the show with the right.

Given the striker style, Chuck at his best was better. When Chuck got older he looked awful. His timing was off, he was inaccurate and his arc'd reaped no rewards and only looked sloppy.

Crocop is a kickboxer in the first place. Back in the days when he was fighting in K-1 he was a good fighter, but fairly limited. He had a good kick and a good straight left hand. But even back then he showed some mental problems as he did in mma when things don't go his way from the beginning. He fought Hoost 3 times but was never able to beat him. In 2000 it looked like he didn't even try.

In 2002 Mirko was physically in his prime in K-1 and he heat the likes of an up coming Remy Bonjasky, Hunt and Bob Sapp. He decided to move to mma and became quite big there. He's fast and strong, a great athlete and with that he was able to avoid takedowns and make a big name for himself with his kicks. His best performance was probably vs Wanderlei in 2006. A clinical demolition job.

This.:deal Slightly off topic but I 100% agree that the fight with Wandy ruined him. Silva has not been the same since.

Anyway Cro Cop is a top 5 ATG HW (top 3 imo) and anyone who says otherwise needs to actually watch some of his fights or stop watching MMA.
