These are abysmal numbers, is that the best Joe C could do for his last payday? how much did each fighter make, I wonder what Calzaghe's end was.I guess it was the best he could do you figure Hopkins, Dawson or Tarver or Johnson couldnt draw flies either. Either way was this the best money fight Joe could have made? man 225,000 PPVS is very low.

Yeah that's true it was in that range, I was shocked too especially when they had a 24/7 and a decent build up. Jones made double the amount fighting Trinidad and that fight wasn't promoted that much.

I'm glad it made so little. It was karma for Joe C taking this fight. Most boxing fans wouldnt dig into their pockets for this sham of a matchup. He must have been able to make more money facing a legitimate fighter I'm sure. He said boxing was dead after this fight, after no doubt seeing the **** figures, but it turns out boxing fans arent stupid enough to buy such a mismatch. I hope, as it was his own promotion, that he ended up with next to nothing.

He said boxing is dead yet look at the other PPVs after his fight, almost all did far better and half of them didn't even have the 24/7 type build up his fight had.

Forgot all about the 24/7. Even with that to hype it up it couldnt sell. And I can't believe this shocked Joe C or HBO. Calzaghe looked horrendous in scraping out a debated win vs Hopkins, and Jones, great as he once was, was a shell of a fighter who hadn't won or looked good for about 4 years. Boxing fans and the general public alike knew this was a disgrace of a fight and I'm glad they didnt make Calzaghe even richer as a result.

Boxing isnt dead, but interest in flailing slappers fighting the shadows of atg's, thankfully is.

I heard his pops gym almost closed, Macranelli and some others had defected and Enzo Calzaghe was under some criticism. I guess it stems from problems with Frank Warren. I wonder if things dont pan out as well as expected maybe Joe C comes back, I mean there are millions to be made I believe at 168. I hope things go well for Joe C BUT?

I mean I have no respect for his career, but Joe is good for boxing and too bad the guy has no personality or Charisma, but with the right opponents and hype considering who is at 168 there are Millions to be made with Joe C . I as a boxing fan want whatever is good for boxing. I think Joe has potential for so much more, I believe the average Joe out there can identify with this guy.

He has to be marketed the right way. What a **** job of managing this guy, wow! anyway those are my thoughts

Harsh but true. Can't blame you or anyone for not remembering the 24/7, that was possibly the most terrible one they did and I doubt any will come close, not even the DLH/Pacquiao one which wasn't great but not bad either. Joe Calzaghe's comments about boxing as a whole was just pathetic after his last fight, because he was leaving he decided to show negativity then take off knowing that there are MANY great fights that were coming up and far greater to come. Boxing isn't dead and will never die, all this "boxing is dead" bullcrap has been here for a long time and I don't understand when it will be dropped already, the sport is here to stay and has always been. I remember trash like Dana White were saying that when DLH retires boxing will be done with yet look at how many great fights are still possible to make. Joe Calzaghe supporting Dana White's claims was low especially when this is HIS sport and clearly isn't close to "dead". He just talked down on everyone and took off.

Dana White is a self serving **** and to think his original love was boxing, now that greedy ***** wants it to die so he can make money ripping off his weekend warriors.

Jones-Calzaghe didn't have promotion. HBO produced 24/7, there were a few TV spots to get the fanbase buy a ticket, but that was that. The event badly suffered by the decision of not involving a major promoter. Text message fight deal is pretty cool, but without a Schaefer, King or Warren caliber of guy, it only reached to the loyal fanbase (tickets) and the average paying boxing fanbase (PPV).

Look at how well Hatton-PacMan or Marquez-Mayweather reached the different kind of markets and caught the public's attention. Jones-Calzaghe had NO promotion at all. NOTHING. 24/7 alone doing 225k is pretty awesome.

No promoters involved so Calzaghe's reported share was $10 million. Easily the biggest money fight that Calzaghe could have made at the time, as shown by the fact that the Hopkins v Pavlik at about the same time did 15% less PPV sales.
