Finally saw the last two rounds of this fight. Very entertaining and competitive championship rounds.

Anyone know what the scorecards were at the time of the stoppage? Rees had his hands dangerously low and true to form Kotelnik landed a massive combo. It would be a shame if Rees were up on the cards only to lose it in that fashion. Either way, both fighters showed a lot of a heart.

Rees would have been miles behind, he was outclassed and beaten up.

Rees was doing ok early but there is only so much you can do if you are 4 foot 8 and are fighting at a weight 5.5lbs below where Williams had recently fought.

As far as I remember Kotelnik was ahead on points at the time of the stoppage.Rees needed a ko in order to turn the tables at that time.

Rees showed a very game performance, but he was out of his shoes that day.Kotelnik was the better man that day.

Not sure what the cards were, but I think it's fair to assume that Rees was behind. He didn't look close to winning that fight imo.

Rees was behind on all cards but very close, I think if rees won the last round he would of kept his title on a draw. Bunce talked about it after the show saying the fight wasnt even as close as the cards say it was.

Rees was behind by a few rounds on the scorecards but it was competitive. One thing that sticks in the memory from that fight was Richie Woodhalls hilariously biased commentary.

Rees won some early rounds 3 or 4 but later was outclassed and after 11 he was far behind.

Bunce fell out with trainer Enzo Calzaghe after these comments, I would disagree with Bunce, Rees was definitely behind but not by a huge margin.

Woodhall's calling of that fight was absolutely appalling. That overweight midget Rees won maybe a couple of the early rounds at most based on workrate but the way Richie was telling it you'd think he was putting on a boxing clinic. I know he had his head up Calzaghe's arse at the time and so was obviously gonna be sympathetic towards anyone fighting out of that gym but it was cringeworthy listening to him at times.

Damn! Kotelnik was twice robbed of deserved victories on British soil(vs Mbye and Witter). If Rees had really needed to win the last round in order to keep his title that would have carried off the prize.
Well, money is the name of this game.Otherwise Kotelnki would have never ever dared to enter British soil for a fight once again.
I bet my house that Kotelnik needs to win 11 out of 12 rounds just in order to win a close point decision or get a draw!

Kotelnik wasn't robbed against Witter. It was one of those genuiely close fights that could have been scored either way.

Rees was getting whooped, truthfully. Like a guy said, he did okay early when he was fresh, just letting his hands go a whole lot. But he was making no impact, and mid to late Kotelnik was beating him down with precision shots.

Kotelnik was winning on the cards, Rees was desperate and exhausted...leading to the stoppage.
