and this is coming from a HUGE Joshua Clottey fan. All he had to do was get busy in the 11th and especially 12th and he had this fight. He decided instead to go into a shell and let Cotto steal the fight. I had it 114-113 Cotto.
I feel like he had the best opportunity to beat cotto with that cut, and he gave it away. In round 12 Clottey looked like it was round one.
I agree mate...my feed ****ed up so I missed half of the 8th and half of the 9th...Im going to wait until I see the fight again in full the score it correctly...But if those rounds went the way they sound like they did I would have had Miguel only up by a point. If I could boil to fight down into one round though, I would give it 10-9 to Clottey...But thats not the way boxing is scored and Josh has the realize that. Clottey had Cotto where he wanted him...Miguel was hurting, cut, tired and having trouble with Clottey's style and approach. But you have to actually take advantage of this ascendancy throw punches and make sure they land..Do enough to make sure you get the rounds...he really let Miguel off the hook I thought.
Even if he had won the 12th he would have lost. The decision was bull****. Cotto did not fight well and Clottey landed the cleaner shots and be landed MORE of them. In Vegas this fight was a Clottey UD. Cotto is beyond beatable at this point.
Clottey gave up the 11th and 12th round, which was inexcusable, esp when your fighting a guy with one eye. What did he think that he would get the decision in the garden-in Cotto's backyard? It was his fight to win, and he never took control of the fight.
Clottey just didn't doesn't do enough to win. I had Cotto by 2 points. And what's up with Clottey trying to quit.
Why isn't anybody giving Clottey a well deserve respect? Did Clottey lost the last 2 rounds? Yup but it was mostly Cotto running way too much mostly the 12th but throwing and moving and hugging. But again Clottey imo deserve respect. People forget Cotto had Clottey hurt in the 6th round. Mostly alot of fighters would be knockout with Cotto hard punches that Clottey had to deal with in the 6th round but Clottey took it well and fought back as to say he wasn't hurt at all.
In Vegas would be a more clearly victory for Cotto check the history of desicion in las Vegas and check if inactivity and lack of aggresion in the final rund make you win fights in las vegas ask california residence and vegas hero Oscar de la Hoya.
the way clottey was trying to steal the fight by overreacting to the low blow and the hit to the back of his head was pretty pathetic too..
