Did you just watch the fight I watched? This was without a doubt one of the very best fights this year, and you're in a position to cry about Cotto moving AND WINNING the last two rounds? Shame on you, take a good hard look at the man in your avatars last fight and come back again.
I think Paul Williams is a stylistic nightmare for Cotto. And yes, I see Cotto getting knocked out badly against PW.
I hate this he had 1 eye excuse... Hagler had a cut against Hearns. The great in this sport overcome and for me Cotto didn't impress. Clottey showed himself to be a top boxer but his lack of power made him lose out tonight. Fair play to Cotto for edging out the win, but he didn't look like a P4P great tonight.
It's more of the opponent he was facing, I gotta admit Clottey really impressed me. I was picking Cotto because I thought Clottey would just stop throwing punches and would lose rounds(which he did). But he was much more aggressive than what I thought he would be. Too bad he couldn't continue that aggressiveness in the final 2 rounds.
Thats my problem with Cotto, he hasn't applied anything he should have learned from the Margo fight. He hasn't improved his defense vs. the uppercut. He still tries to fight hyper fancy and go for KO's instead of just putting in work and letting the KO's come to him. He could have won this fight cleanly with great jabbing and movement, not runningl ike he did for the last 2 rounds.
Cotto is a top-tier fighter who has a few holes in his game, and whilst competing with other top- tier fighters, is prone to getting walked down. Thats all there is to that, I simply don't see why he deserves a huge knack over this, he just beat a man who has never been beaten convincingly.
You're right styles make fights but PBF and Pac both have speed and skills to give Cotto hell. They will both catch him with something he doesn't see and hurt him. When Cotto doesn't get you outta there in the first 6 rounds or so he starts to move and retreat the Margo loss took something out of him.
I agree with you that PBF and Pac has speed and quite possibly almost everything over Cotto. But Pac has been knocked down and out by bodypunches, and Cotto as we all know, is a quite vicious bodypuncher. Floyd is a different animal, and I think Cotto could bring smart pressure on Floyd and be competetive throughout. I'd favor PBF over Cotto, and I'd favor Pac over Cotto most likely, but it would not surprise me to see Cotto rip huge hooks on Pac's ribs and do something spectacular.
if cotto fights in vegas he will lose to floyd he will beat poac because he is bigger than him but against floyd he gets stopped. if the fight is in ny floyd would have to knowck cotto out to win based on tonights scoring:deal
