is it just me or is this guy a total *****, shouting out pointless **** to the fighters, making sure he's in the camera shot everytime getting to close to the fighters and in every fight i've seen him referee, they say the best refs are the ones you don't notice, this fool is pathetic and is just dinning out on his fathers name, he probabily wasn't given the same name as his father but changed it, they even announce him without the junior

The guy did a professional job tonight, with all the weird stuff that took place in that fight he did a good job controlling these guys.

It's kind of hard not to notice the referee in a fight like tonight. You had a very physical and at times dirty fight.

Mercante did a very good job tonight. His father was a good ref also.

Wow really? I thought he did great tonight. When Clottey was hit low and it was obviously unintentional, he didn't let Clottey whine about it. When Clottey's glove had loose tape on it he didn't send him back to his corner but cut it off himself so there wouldn't be a big break in the action. And when Clottey hurt his leg on the canvas he kept his composure and called for a time out, how many referees if put in the position where Clottey was on the canvas moaning in pain wouldn't have just waved it off in pure panic? In fact one of the things I had thought earlier was that junior was living up to his dad's name.
I guess perspective is a strange thing
