Is Vitali still good enough to beat someone like Haye ?

Maybe i'm dead wrong on this one but it seems to me that Wladimir would be more apt to do the job. Yes , he's got the weaker chin but his technic is better than his older brother. & He doesn't get hit as much as vitali too. Of course , Vitali has one hell of a chin too but would that be enough ?

Vitali is not what he used to be , he's slower than before & not as cautious imo. Sure he still defeated his last recent opponents but the Vitali of 2004 would've done a better job...Or at least that's what i think , it's just my opinion , but Wlad is in better shape imo.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. Vitali came back after four years of inactivity and cruised to win against Peter. He always looked as if he could have turned it up another notch. Gomez is a slick boxer with more talent than any current fighter above 190 pounds and Vitali beat him handily. It didn't look elegant, I don't think a fight with two guys with very long arms is likely to look elegant. Because of his lanky frame, Vitali may look slow, awkward, whatever, but as long as noone is able to exploit these supposed weaknesses, I believe looks are deceiving. Haye has yet to prove what his power and speed are worth if he is the small guy in a fight.

Right , but Wladimir's approach still seems better imo. Even his pacing seems better than Vitali now. But anyway , maybe all of this is not as important...If haye lands a brutal bomb out of nowhere i don't think it would be as catastrophic on a guy like vitali (who can take a powerful punch)... But i'm just saying...Wlad seems to be better for the job now.

At the same time...I don't think Haye would be endurant enough to beat a guy like vitali by UD...Who knows..i'm just speculating here.

Obviously he is not prime but that doesn't mean Haye would beat him. He has faded a bit, age and many injuries in his career have taken a bit of a toll and Haye may win 2 or 3 early rounds but imo there is no doubt that Haye would still get royally knocked out, Haye just doesn't have the durability to last 12 rounds.

When I watched the Vit-Gomez fight I was thinking throughout that Haye would be too fast for Vitali and that with Vitali keeping his hands so low Haye would land a few Hayemakers.

There are a lot of unkowns like how Vits chin would stand up to Hayes punches (both of which are good,) who would tire first if the fight lasted, whether Vit would be less rusty and faster or just older and slower in his next fight; but I would give Haye a good chance of beating him.

I think he is- until he's beaten convincingly but an opponent, as opposed to beaten by injuries, I still think he's the best at HW.

Not really sure how heavy handed Haye is, but we know he does not have a great chin or great stamina.

Vitali is a really balanced fighter, and absolute nightmare to fight.

    Chin, Size, Power and Stamina.

If Lennox and Sanders could land bombs on Vitali and not KO him, then I doubt a smaller Haye, with less power has a chance.

Haye will be very vulnerable against Vitali.

Interestingly I believe Haye's best chance was against Wladimir because of his doubts and inferior chin compared to Vitali.

I'd see a good case for Vitali stopping Haye within 2 rounds.

Haye has done nothing what-so-ever to prove that he should be in the same ring as Vitali.

Vitali came back after his lay off and stop two top ten guys while loosing maybe 1 round. Haye has beaten Tomzen Bonin and Monte Barret.

Is this thread a wind up?

Even if Vitali has slightly faded there's no way in hell that Haye beats him. Nobody except Lewis had a serious chance to do this, only injuries were able to stop this guy. Vitali has never lost by points and the chance that Haye is able to win more rounds than Vitali is nearly zero. If the fight happens Vitali stops Haye inside of 6 rounds.

I think you have this question the other way around....Haye has never beat an opponent near the class of Vitali. What has he done to prove he is deserving of a title shot? Especially at heavyweight? Beat a faded version of Monte Barrett...in a fight in which he was hurt! I am not impressed and think he will be exposed when he steps up.

Vitali would destroy the glass-jawed Haye, knock him out cold.

Yes, Vitali is an animal in the ring. Haye is more skilled and much faster than Vitali, but he just dont have Vitali's mentality. He was much better off fighting Wlad, because at least with him one punch can turn the whole fight around. There is a good chance if Haye landed something solid on Wlad, he would either go into one of his famous panic attacks or fall several times under the pressure, with Vitali you just dont have that.

That was Vitali Klitschko during his prime, though. If Haye can connect frequently, then sooner or later something's going to happen. Even Margarito, who was perceived to have an iron jaw, got knocked out by Mosley because of too many big connects.

At this moment, i think the fight is about even. Although Gomez was pretty good going in (top5), he disappointed a bit, but still hit Vitali quite a lot. I think an in-and-out dashing Haye could take a decision from the slowing and aging Vitali.

Vitali STEEMrolled Peter. He dominated and KOed a great, southpaw in Gomez...............

Explain to me again the part about him being not what he used to be, cause I don't see where you come to that conclusion.:blood

Man Vitali would knock Haye back into 1985. You think Haye's Glass Jaw would be able to take the punishment Sanders, Williams, Peter, or Gomez took?:rofl

    No way in hell.
