...because of the "ice skating rink" as Harold Lederman put it? I've never seen a boxer slip and slide like Clottey did last night. I felt in the later rounds he was very hesitant to throw in bunches because of his footing. And since the fight was so darn close, a knockdown at that stage would have sealed his fate.

Clottey had the fight if he didnt slow down the last two rounds.
I think he was the better fighter last night,he just didnt let his hands go enough.

He had to much respect for Cotto's power.
remember he was the one feeling the shot's.

    That said....
Clottey allowed them to steal his fight.
(Tho I still think he should have got at the very least a draw)
considering Cotto would not lose a decison in NY unless....

Right...but I was so focused on his feet. He kept slipping and it felt to me like he wasn't unloading because he was afraid of getting knocked down. Had Clottey been knocked down in the later stages it would have sealed his fate in his mind because: 1.) the fight was so close and 2.) the earlier knockdown in the fight.

I didn't think he would do as well as he did. Then as the fight went on, I was ondering why he wasn't unloading! He won me as a fan last night.

    Cotto did good too.

I think that there was a lot of luls in the action when it came to Clottey letting his hands go and if there wasn't any significantly clean blows landing in a round then a round has to be scored off ring generalship and workrate so that is why Cotto got the nod and I dont disagree with the decision but if Clottey had of kept up the workrate for the last 3 rounds he would of probably got the decision but he threw the fight away for himself by being content in his head about him winning the fight and I think this is a misconception.

I dont think he understands what some judges look for when scoring a fight and the judge who had it 116-111 can be justified for scoring it that way because he was looking at the workrate factor if no clean punches were being landed in a round and after watching it the 2nd and 3rd time once with the sound off I myself had it 116-111 or if you did not give the 10-8 round then it could have been 115-112 but either score was more of a representation of how the fight played out in my opinion but that was only after watching it again because 1st time round I probably would of had it a bit closer

Huh, nobody addressing the ice skating rink. Maybe I was watching a different fight last night than everyone else, lol.

I picked Clottey to win. He has no one to blame but himself for not throwing enough punches. Yes the floor was slippery, but wasn't it slippery for both fighters?

Clottey blew the fight, plain and simple.

The paintjob was defo ****, advertisment's were defo f'ing up Clottey's game.

But overall, I think Clottey reaches w/his shot's alot anyway.
That has alot to do with it aswell.

I did notice that about him. This was my first chance to watch Clottey. I think the way he fights, like you stated + the ice skating rink led him to be overly cautious. He knew a mild punch from Cotto during any of those sequences could put him on his rear because his footing was horrible.

Yes he did seem a bit hesitant because I think Cottos shots were actually affecting him, unlike his other opponents. I still had Clottey winning by 1 point.

Right...no problem from Cotto. That's because he's more flat-footed, Clottey on the other hand, like a previous poster mentioned - reaches sometimes when he swings and misses. Clottey's style of fighting + ring made it extremely difficult for him to get off punches.

Basically Clottey was docked points for not being Margarito.
which suck's for him because going in, That's been his knock, not busy enough.

That said, I still had him winning by 1.
