exactly.. there would be more uproar if Clottey got the decision.. nearly everyone I know scored it for Cotto..
My point exactly ... The fight was very close and no one should complain when the decision goes either way. BUT!!!! having one judge scoring the fight 116-111 Cotto is totally off the mark and introduces the possibility of a fix. And there in lies the problem .... Its becoming common knowledge that you do not fight Cotto in MSG - because you will never get the nod. And that score of 116-111 for Cotto adds credibility to that claim. Cotto or Clottey could have won that fight with fair scoring ... but when you have some guy filling his pockets with payola and coming through with a lopsided score card ..... it definately tarnishes further the sport.
if your boy ran for the last 5 rounds and got outclassed the others would you be cheering like a maniac for him like hes winning?
clottey did not get rob... was the fight close to score i do agree... the scorecards were a bit off... I had it 114-113 for cotto... clottey lost the last two rounds which would have won him the fight... people have to stop blaming it on MSG... the fans dont score the fight, the judges do... at the end of the day the fans are their to support their fighters... if clottey wanted it so much he should've fought harder the last two rounds, he should also thank cotto and his corner for not stopping the fight and going to the scorecards early on...
I thought Clottey won or it should have at least been a draw. Cotto doesn't look like the same fighter from before the Margarito fight which I thought might be the case. You simply cannot win a close decision in New York against Cotto, no matter who you are. Mosley couldn't either although he had a case he won as well.
That's exactly why Mosley was smart not to take a rematch in New York. I think he might stop Cotto the 2nd time around anyway though.
It was a close fight that could have gone either way. I don't think you can call it a total robbery though. Having said that one of the score cards was very iffy.
Cotto fought last night with practically one eye, you cannot judge him post-Margo on that performance and say he is not the same fighter
I thought that scorecard was crazy too, but AP and ESPN had similar scores. I scored the fight for Clottey 114-113, but I thought it was a close fight.
haha, yeah the round where clottey was in the corner getting slammed for 90 seconds by everything cotto threw. To be honest, for people to call cotto the house fighter is very misleading. The commentary was TERRIBLY biased for clottey. Everytime he threw a punch they squealed, everytime he landed a punch they came
