Genuine question on how they should be scored.

1st round....at 2:45 in the 1st I was all set to give Clottey the round, then the knockdown happens. So is there reason for this round to be called 9-9? If then knockdown happend after 10 seconds, and the next 2:40 of the round Clottey had done what he done originally I don't think he done enough to turn the round from 10-8 to 9-9. So therefore personally I gave it 10-8 Cotto.

But the commentators Im sure gave the round as 9-9 here in the u.k.? Is there genuine reason to do this?

For me Round 6 is a 10-8 to Cotto. Most cards ive seen on here are 10-9. What does someone need to do to get a 10-8 without actually knocking the other guy down? There was several moments where I thought the ref was having a good look at Clottey and thinking of stopping it, His head was being banged all over the place. For me, I think this warranted a 10 -8 round?

Im not a Cotto fan(well wasn't, I now have plenty of respect for the heart he showed last night) so im not looking for people being biased, I just want some insight on how to score these two rounds as Im maybe not as experienced a fan as others on here.

round six was a borderline 10-8 but i scored it 10-9 just because clottey never seemed that hurt. mayweather-gatti had two potential 10-8 rounds without a knockdown; i'm just not convinced there was that level of domination

There was also a round (forget which it was though!) in which you could have scored it 10-8 Clottey as he abused Cotto and Cotto hardly threw a punch. I had Clottey winning the 1st until the jab knockdown.

    Surely it can be 9-9.

If you think Clottey had the round won, then 10-9 for him. DEDUCT a point for the knockdown and you have 9-9.

Were you born an expert on boxing?

I was asking for a reason, I DIDN'T KNOW SOMETHING AND WANTED TO LEARN.

So all rounds with just one knockdown are just scored 10-8? even if the other guy dominates and wins the round big, if he hits the canvass in the last 10 seconds he loses the round 10-8? Not saying that was the case last night, Im just curious for the future.

He fought back at times, and did not look seriously hurt. For me it does not warrant a 10-8 round.

1 - 10-9 - Clottey won that round but got caught off balance and went down so it goes to Cotto, actually there is a case for 9-9 but I went for 10-9 Cotto
6 - 10-9 Clottey blocked most of those shots, although some hurtful 1s got through, a big big clear Cotto round but nowhere near a 10-8 - if your calling that a 10-8, rounds 7-9 were all 10-8 rounds to Clottey but they arent either

Agreed. He also blocked, deflected, and dodged most of those shots.

No way was the 6th a 10-8 for Cotto. The 1st was, though.

10-8 and 10-9. No controversy at all there.
