The reason why you never tried to box is because of this character flaw that is in you. You'll never understand boxing, and i really don't know why you aren't an MMA fan. Boxing does not need a phony fan like yourself. Fighters are going to be wobbled, stunned, knocked down, and knocked out. The best ever in this sport have been stopped in fghts. You ever wonder why I rarely enter threads that you create...the above post is why. You, dinamita, Bladerunner, TommyV are all phonies. I believe you are either having fun with your computers, or that you are truly phony in life.

I am not saying that Clottey's chin is not good, or that any of those other guys didn't have solid chins - but NOT impregnable, which is what terms like "iron" or "granite" should be reserved for. There are only a few fighters in boxing history, imo - guys like Chuvalo or McCall - who belong in that class. MOST fighter's chins are dentable to one degree or another.

Hitting the canvas is the worst mark against a fighter's chin. Getting wobbled and staying ON your feet actually shows a stronger chin than the guy who takes a shot and hits the canvas, even if briefly. That video, in fact, shows exactly HOW strong Chuvalo's chin was. Amazing, really!

But let me say this, Hagler is one of the few fighters who have hit the deck who you could put in the granite category, so we're not really in substantial disagreement.

It has nothing to do with having an iron chin. A stiff jab connecting at some angle where your head can't turn but moves back along with your entire body, gets you off balance. Anybody knows that and Cotto has a stiff jab that already knocked down more.

he was not off balance until Cotto hit him which knocked him off balance and then on his ass. This off balance crap is an excuse. BOTH of Clottey's feet were flat on the ground when he got punched. The video CLEARLY shows that.

I NEVER said his Chin was Glass or that he does not have a good Chin. Only that:

#1. He does not have a granite Chin

#2. It is disgraceful to be knocked down by a jab.

    Do you understand that?

flash knockdown? Yes I never said it was not. What I said was that it WAS NOT a balance issue which the video clearly shows. He was only off balance AFTER he got hit by the Jab not before.

I never said Clottey was hurt or that he has a bad Chin.

    :hi:

No he was off balance. Watch the replay, he was stepping in to throw a left hook and when he was stepping in and turning cotto land the jab and it pushed him off balance. Plain and simple.
