I don't know the answer to this one, so I'm just throwing it out there. I'm seen Manny fight a number of times, but not as many as other posters so I'll have to leave a fuller assessment of Pac's punch resistance to them.

I've seen the body shot KO's, etc. But that was a long time ago.

It looks like (according to reports just coming out and that others have posted threads about) the Cotto-Pac fight might get made. We know Pac's fast enough, can hit with some power, etc. But can he take punches from Miguel Cotto? Will Pac be able to stay away from Cotto if he finds out he can't handle Miguel's power?

As I've said numerous times (yes, this is for those who say I'm a "Cotto Hater"), Miguel has exceptional timing and he is likely to be able to land on Pac even if Manny is at his dart-in, dart-out best.

So: Will Pac-Man last through Cotto's assault, or will he get gobbled-up like the arcade game by Cotto's "ghost?"

    Your take.

I don't think Cotto can handle Pac's speed and power.

With Pac's movement it will be hard to nail him cleanly. Maybe even more important is the Pacquiao workrate. Against the hard hitting Jeff Lacy, Joe Calzaghe never let Lacy get set to throw anything too solid because of his tremendous combinations and punch output. All in all I think Pac can take a shot from Cotto and could outwork him over the distance.

Unlike Hatton, Cotto has a nice jab and will actually use it. Pac will definitely have a speed advantage - Cotto will be the bigger man in the ring. Power vs. Speed.......:yep

I'll have to think about this one.

But as far as Pac taking Cotto's power. I don't see that happening...... but will Pac get hit enough for Cotto's power to come into play? :yep

Manny has a good chance of knocking out Cotto too.

He can take a few shots, but he definitely shouldn't try to exchange. He has excellent punch resistance just look at some of the shots he took from Marquez and Morales.

But being a smaller man too many will add up. He will have to use his feet and body movement at all times of the fight, no resting.

Pacman will be too much prepared for the fight. Trust me. Wit Freddy roach watching his back again, its impossible that Cotto think of a victory. Pacman is way too smart in the ring. He was maybe a one dimensionnal fighter in his previous fight. But now, i think he's a very complete fighter. And wit the performance of Cotto last saturday, i understand the cut, i mean. I dont want to give him less credit. But i dont think he can handle Pacman.

Maybe if he got a new trainer. But i dont think so.

Remember what I told you in that other thread, about not being sure if Pac can take it if Cotto manages to get in some decent power shots??

Interesting thread, lets hear it people.

He definitely would not want to take TOO many shots, but i don't think Cotto has the power to stop him with just one or two shots. Manny's offense (far superior handspeed and timing) combined with his energiser-bunny movement would be enough to keep Cotto off him i think.

Pacquaio is just too good offensively for someone with the defensive flaws that Cotto has.

Pacquiao has carried his speed AND power up in weight very well thats what makes him dangerous but he is going up with a strong welterweight in Cotto who IMO has underrated speed (although last night will make people doubt it.) If Cotto can take Mannys shots well, i can see him trying to impose himself on Manny. If not, it can get real ugly for Cotto. Pacs THAT good.
