the "rumor" has been out for a while that mayweather-marquez tickets sales werent doing so well. and it just so happens that floyd suffers an unspecified 'rib injury' postponing the fight to Sept 19th on Mexican Independance Day. its common sense really........ VOTE
Mixture of a number of things: 1) Rusty after 2 year lay-off 2) Needs more time to tighten up his skills 3) Announced his retirement 'Before' Pacquiaos destruction of Ricky Hatton. After seeing how brutal that was I bet he was wishing he'd stayed retired. 4) If the Marquez - Mayweather fight goes ahead and has worse sales than Pac's recent fights Mayweather will have to concede the bigger share to Pacquiao. Rumours indicate the ticket sales were very poor. 5) Realising that Marquez is actually a very difficult fight and not just a 'warm up' fight. Needing more time to prepare.
There is always a 50-50 purse split option for "money may".. am just so desperate to see his boring ass decimated and retired for the last time..
Fight might be postponed to september 19. I don't understand why they have to fake an injury to sell tickets?, Baldomir/Mayweather didn't sell out and the date didn't change, Hatton/Pac sold out one week before the fight.
these are professional boxers, why cant we just except them at there word, that they have a legit injury.... besides the ppv numbers are more important then the actual attendance.
accept their "word" in the most corrupt sport there is.. sure kiddo. -make sure to you put you cracked tooth in a envelope under you pillow so the tooth fairy can find it easier. poor tickets sales reflect and forecasts what ppv #'s will generate. again, 'common sense'..
i already thought marquez-floyd would do 800,000 buys, with the 24/7 and some more hype....i thought it could hit a million buys
mayweather-marquez never had the instant buzz of a highly anticipated mega fight. ****, there were hardly talks about this being a fight of the year canidate.
