I had Clottey ahead by 1 point at the end of the 10th round.
The 11th round saw Cotto in retreat, but boxing nicely. I gave him the round.
I told my boys that I was watching the fight with.........this is it guys.......whoever wins the last round takes the fight.

    COTTO DID THAT.

I still feel a case can be made for Clottey who I picked...........to have won this fight.
The cut played a major role in the win , I believe.
Out of 100 boxing Judges........about 85 of them are gonna give a fight to the warrior fighting under adverse conditions ( the cut ).

When they see a guy with an AX gash and blood dripping in his eye for 9 rounds........and this fighter continues to fight when most fighters would have retired and let it go to the scorecard for the easy points win after the 5th.......they are definetly going to give some merit points for pure guts.

Then this same fighter gets pummeled for 3 rounds......couldnt see a right hand coming, makes adjustments and then out boxes a top tier fighter like Clottey, while making him miss...........and then clearly wins the last 2 rounds on pure boxing ability........THIS IS WHERE YOU HAVE THE COTTO WIN.

    As it should be.........
It's always gonna be like that fellers

    very good scrap...
and most fans are letting personal **** get to them, when in reality....we just witnessed what boxing is all about in one night.....

    KNOCKDOWNS
    BLOOD
CHANGING GAME PLANS DUE TO CUTS
    FACING ADVERSITY
    SOME DIRTY TACTICS
BALLS OF STEEL ON BOTH ENDS
    PRIDE
    HEART
    DETERMINATION
    FRUSTRATION
    VICTORY ON BOTH ENDS :happy

Cotto was being controlled and beaten up in that fight. And then when he couldnt take anymore he ran around the ring to avoid having to engage with Clottey.

I'm trying to find most of the threads I was talking **** in on fight night!!
It was the boiling blood & 116-111 scorecard that set me off....

After re-watching it w/a cool head this is my scorecard.
Clottey had it, But he stopped throwing giving Cotto the opp to take it.
+ the KD being the only real thing that actually separates them, IMO.
(I gave both 6 rounds, But the KD being the difference)

1st round- Cotto 10 Clottey 8 (Shotgun Jab drop's Clottey, Clean KD)
    2nd round Cotto 9 Clottey 10
    3rd round Cotto 9 Clottey 10
    4th round Cotto 10 Clottey 9
    5th round Cotto 9 Clottey 10
    6th round Cotto 10 Clottey 9
    7th round Cotto 9 Clottey 10
    8th round Cotto 9 Clottey 10
    9th round Cotto 9 Clottey 10
    10th round Cotto 10 Clottey 9
    11th round Cotto 10 Clottey 9
    12th round Cotto 10 Clottey 9

    Final score:
    114-113 Miguel Cotto

I COMPLETELY AGREE. I don't understand how people haven't noticed that Cotto DECIDED to box. Had he not got cut, he would have TKO'd Clottey, IMO. Only ever backed off when he had Clottey under pressure on the ropes to dab at his eye- that says it all. He knocked Clottey down with a stiff jab- imagine what he would have done had he kept up the pressure. People need to watch the fight again from an impartial view.

I thought Josh would beat Cotto to be honest but watching the fight I had Cotto winning by a round. No robbery.....but the fight was ultra close and I think Cotto's character and determination won him that fight. You're absolutely right....Cotto could have looked for the fight to be stopped yet he never once said anything about his eye when asked by the ref and ringside physician! He's a warrior! With that said i can't blame anyone who scored the fight for Josh b/c he did win a lot of rounds himself. With how close the fight was I'd like to see a rematch but understand Cotto is in the driver seat with this win.....his options are lengthy and he should be able to get a big fight with his performance. PAC vs Cotto is gonna be great! lets hope they make it happen.

How about the ref in the fight (Arthur!) Did a great job making sure Josh didn't over re-act on some of the rough house incidents that took place. "Act like a champion" :rofl

Cotto aint knocking **** out. Clottey has too good a defense and too good a chin. Clottey got caught with a jab he walked into, and fell down. A flash KD nothing more. Without the KD you could legitimately give Clottey the first 3 rounds. Cotto was in for it all night without the cut.

In all honesty the body blows were picked off much of the time by Cotto...but Josh wasn't active enough IMHO. He did shell up too much and gave Cotto the chance to work the crowd and judges even if he didn't land a lot. I said Josh would have to be more active than normal in order to prevent Cotto from winning a decision on his work rate/activity.

How do you control a round when you are outlanded nearly 2-1? :patsch Clottey jab was getting through, Cotto's wasnt.

Cotto deserves credit as does Clottey.
Fight could have gone either way.
That being said I scored it twice and neither was for Cotto.

Cotto chose to drop the intensity and had he kept up what was going on in the sixth then for me that is the way the fight was going. IMO, the only reason Cotto didn't keep up the intensity is because he didn't wanna get caught on the inside on his left side as he had no way of seeing what was coming. Watch the fight again.
