How much money did u lose on this fight m8 cause u sound bitter as ****. When the going got tough, cotto fought 9 hard rounds against a tough son of a ***** with a very nasty cut over his eye, without complaint. As someone has already stated he could have easily told the doctor he couldnt see and take the easy way out with a points win after the 4th. Instead, beeing the warrior he is, fought to a very well deserved win.

So all the whingers about the "body slam" and the low blow, grow up and stop hatin. Clottey got slammed because he jumps all over opponents backs, and the punch to the back of the head was because he turned his head while in a clinch. His own faults. The low blow is the onle cause for argument.

We got an entertaining fight and even if cotto lost a point for the roughhousing (which u gotta be in a tickle-fight for those incidences to be concidered roughhousing) he still would have won on points.

 

I missed this part, this is problem when my satellite without during the storm.

 

Cotto tossed him but he did not slam him on his face. Clottey ****ing slipped and was slipping all night. That being said that is like the third dude Cotto done jacked up off their feet. ...he is a strong mofo.

i would have done the same thing. clottey needs to realize he's not playing soccer or basketball. he's a ****in boxer and in the sport of boxing there's no crying and you can't draw a foul by putting on a world class acting performance.

No, you just can't draw a foul against Cotto in MSG.

Fighters try to get an edge in fights all the time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Look how Hopkins abused Cortez over the years. Hell, acting got Cintron a draw out of a clear KO.

 

Im starting to get the impression with the 9-9 round and the intentional body slam thing that you dislike Cotto...am I wrong? People who dislike Cotto or wanted Clottey to win are going to see it that way. People who like Cotto and wanted him to win will justify it in some way. Personally, I think Cotto was just trying to get Clottey off of him so he could tee off in the corner. Clottey either over reacted , was off balance or whatever. I by no means think it was an intentional body slam. Just think Cotto was trying to get Clottey off of him and back into the corner.

 

Just to make my position perfectly clear...

I wanted to see both men put up a good fight. Both men had my respect before the fight, they still do after, and I went back and forth on who would win all week. Clottey opened a nasty cut early that Cotto had every right to use to shorten the evening. Because he didn't want to do that, he wanted to make damn sure that Clottey paid an extra physical price also.

If you have eyes in your head and have ever seen a fight, you know that 99.99% of clinches don't end with one man's feet leaving the canvas and ending up planted face down on the canvas. What Cotto did was intentional, savvy, the move of a veteran fighter, and technically illegal.

And trust me, as a big Hopkins fan, I know illegal.

 

hahah, I was thinking the same thing. To be honest, I think it was an attempt on Cotto's part at that point to discourage clinching. Negative reinforcement, if you will.

Either way, Clottey made a huge deal about it, and he looked even more ridiculous crying about the hit to the back of the head after HE is the one that turned around. Mercante's reaction to Clottey was priceless :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Clottey has no one to blame for his loss but himself. He didn't fight like a champion....and if he did, I believe he could have stopped Cotto.
