I think the fight did more damage for Cotto than it did good for him...

His corner was afraid he lost in the last couple rounds
    His body language was terrible

I think mentally cotto was uncomfortable later in the fight and at the end of the fight he didnt really feel he pulled it out

Cut or not... or whatever the situation may be... i dont think this fight did a lot of good for cotto's confidence

    I also scored the fight

    7-4 for clottey
or 7-6 or 7-5 depending on how you handle that 1st roudn kd situation..

either way I had clottey winning..... cotto should really thank the crowd the fight..it wouldn't have been the same with out them

    I agree with this much.

In Vegas, he probably loses the split.

In Accra, he probably loses a UD.

yeah i was thinking if this fight was in africa what the score would have been....

    but um...

    i had 3 scores.. 1 with a tie first round, 1 with a 2 point first round to cotto, 1 with a 10 - 9 round to cotto...

my card matched the official who scored it for clottey by 1, i also gave the 11th to cotto... leaderman gave the 11th to clottey so i mean... this fight is all over the place really..... I doubt a rematch will ever happen... on top of it cotto fought better with the cut.... he focused more.. cotto fought like a dick the first 3 rounds..... then the 4th he turned it up

    in particular tho

    10-8 cotto r1
    9-10 clottey r2
    9-10 clottey r3
    10-9 cotto r4
    9-10 clottey r5
    10-9 cotto r6
    9-10 clottey r7
    9-10 clottey r8
    9-10 clottey r9
    9-10 clottey r10
    10-9 cotto r11
    10-9 cotto r12

    7-6 clottey....

i had clottey winning as well. I like Cotto a little bit more. Cotto should have been penalize for his rough house tactics.

    Decent score card.
I thought the 3rd was a Cotto round.

    nothing he did was illegal

when cotto flipped clottey... cotto just was trying to spin him around and clottey lost his footing
when cotto hit him in the back of the head the punch barely landed. i could see it in person... clottey just tried to get the best of it
when cotto did the low blow it was just on the belt line... clottey was just tying to do what he could to get the fight on closer terms
this is my first time watching the fight so maybe running it back i would change my mind.... ALOT! of what cotto was throwing was getting blocked and either the announcers or the crowd was going crazy which could have swayed some people....

I dont think a rematch would ever happen... if clottey wants a rematch he should stay away from paul williams

clottey deserves it but he will have to work his ass off to get it... a lot of strange things will have to happen for him to get the rematch .. I personally think it will never happen unless clottey becomes hot & cotto comes down on some mis fortune because clottey definitely has what it takes to beat cotto... his lack of experience showed ... that's pretty much what made the difference in this fight

Cotto is an awesome fighter,Clottey is a very good one himself.Clottey lost the fight the last 2 rounds.
Altough in no way I thought Cotto won this.

There were probably close to 6 close rounds. Hard to score. I do agree Clottey by a point.

Clottey just doesn't have that killer instinct to try and finish someone or even to try and hurt them.

its a shame clottey doesnt have the world class experience cotto has.... I hope that clottey continues to have a successful career because hes a great fighter- great attitude & entertaining..... he needs to make a run @ shane

that is his best chance of locking a big fight

imo it would be stupid to stick him in with pw because he will lose
cotto rematch wont ever happen within the next 2 years
    pac... no
    berto.... no
    floyd.... no

It's not that... because he has killer instinct... when cotto lashed on clottey.. clottey would lash back... he just made a poor decision not to let his hands go between the 8th & 10th rounds when he was really putting it on cotto and in the final rounds as well... he wanted to land perfect precision shots and take his time....

    but the situation

    in msg
    during puerto rico weekend

you need to TAKE IT AWAY FROM cotto... anywhere else he might have got the nod... or subtracting the kd he would have got the nod.... but under the circumstances it was cotto's fight

cotto sure didnt act like it though

i agree, although cotto fought a very solid welterweight in clottey and showed how tough he really is battling through that cut. i think it should have given his confidence a little boost. cotto really needs a good trainer in his corner. i think that's the main difference.

He could get possibly get Berto. More than likely get Collazo, Cintron, or Quintana. Mosley would be something good to go for but will Shane bite. He doesn't have the workrate to see Williams.

After watching that fight, don't think Cotto can beat Mosley a second time around. Nor Pac or Mayweather.

yeah I supposed that would be a good filler fight if he cant get shane... cintron wouldnt know what to do with clottey... that fight makes sense actually

its not the trainer... cotto felt the shots and he didnt BUILD his confidence in that fight.... he did what any great fighter should have done which is fight on.... only a ***** would have quit.. the trainer cant really help cotto interanally with his confidence... he needs to look in the mirror and believe in himself

cotto was fighting timid in the last couple rounds
his corner was talking with a huge sense of urgency
he didnt look satisfied/confident in the 2nd half of the fight or when they announced the decision

time will tell how he reacts.... pacman is a great fight because

shane/paul williams/floyd will exploit cotto's lack of confidence and proabably spank him because of cotto 2nd guessing / not believing in himself.... atleast cotto should have the majority of the advantages going into the pacman fight where he wouldnt in the first 3 fights I mentioned
