After de la hoya's retirement GBP is in serious trouble other than Victor Ortiz in a few years they simple do not have any other fighter who can produce big numbers $$$. I do not see how they are going to survive. This company has many private investors and they need to come up with something.DLH may need to comeback

On the other hand Top Rank has done an incredible work signing young exciting prospects and future starts. Look at Top Rank fighters to name a few golden boy needs to hurry up and sign cotto or someone to have some leverage.I see top rank dominating the business side of the sport for the next 3 o 4 years easily.thoughts?

No problem they just wait for them to get big and their contracts end. Then they offer more money and steal them. Thats what they've done so far. And most fighters go where the money is.

Agreed, Top Rank have nurtured quite a few fighters from the start of their careers (I'm sure Cotto and Juanma signed pro with them) Golden Boy just cherrypick theirs.

JMM, Lara, Jacobs, Garcia, Kirkland, Vazquez and Mares are also with GBP. Pacquiao, Haye, and Chris John are co-promoted. Top Rank has definitely became stronger lately, but GBP is still involved in the biggest cards (Pac-Hatton, Floyd-JMM etc).

I don't know how anyone can think GBP is in trouble. They've got a great roster of young talent. While Top Rank is still probably stronger in the Latin and Asian markets, GBP has probably already supplanted them as the #1 promoter of American fighters. We'll see how Top Rank responds when the ageless wonder Arum kicks off.

They have 25% of Houston Dynamo soccer team, some fight here and there and they will survive until stars grow.

GBP has tons of prospects waiting in the wings...maybe none ready for the immediate future, but they have guys who can be flag bearers potentially.

Then again I fail to see how anyone can throw their support behind Arum and his shady "My guys first" business tactics. OBviously that explains why he's riding high and all the other promoters are "in trouble."

GBP simply haven't been very successful developing world champions. How many world champs have they had who weren't GBP partners (Hopkins, Mosley, MAB, etc), besides Marquez? For a company favoured by HBO, this seems unusual, and makes you wonder what happens when they can squeeze no more out of their wizened "legends". Given that they're so unproven at developing fighters, it makes you wonder where boxing is going.

Ikeke - failed for middleweight belt
Andrade - 2 losses for super middle belts
they got Juan Diaz after he'd lost to Campbell
Kirkland - in prison, was close to title shot
Ortiz - must win very tough elim v Maidana - is he ready? his world title shot v "toothache" kotelnik fell through
Ponce de Leon - unimpressive champ, brutally swept aside by Top Rank prospect Juanma Lopez
Juarez - not short of opportunities, but comes up short every time
Mares - coming along slowly, looks talented but physicaly weak
Jacobs - still knocking out fat Mexicans, I believe

They might have apiece of Vazquez but did they actually do anything to promote his wars with Marquez? Or did they just have him on a couple of GBP undercards, and somehow manage to get their banner on fights they don't physically promote?
