By himself. Damn shame, he has all the tools to be king and he showed flashes, more then flashes.. but he wouldn't sustain it.
he doesn't have all the tools. Here are some of the tools that he's missing: His output is low, kind of lacks conditioning. His power is nothing special. He is open to the body cause his guard is held high and out in front. He doesn't counterpunch very well. He has brittle hands by his own admission. That said I consider him a real good fighter but he doesn't have all the tools
That was a big problem for Clottey in this fight. He missed countless opportunities to make Cotto pay with countershots. Horrible showing in that department.
you and your avatar shut up and welcome to the 3,000 thread on this....did we really need another?:yikes
i had cotto winning by a point but it was clear though that clottey was the better fighter, he just screwed up twice. The first time to leave himself off balanced to get kd and the 2nd for not trying to win the championship rounds. Clottey could of easily won the fight by a 8-4 margin if he didnt choke.
Dude this isn't some computer game were stats are rigid and immovable. Output and conditioning are something in his control.. did Cotto hurt him to the body especially? No he was beautifully punching between his guard. He counterpunches just fine.. but he didn't ****ing throw as much as he needed to which I've been saying all along is what will make or break the fight, but thats in HIS control.. its not something he can't control like power or height. His power is nothing special, fine but he has decent pop.
The tools he has which are in the good to great category he does have: Great chin. Cotto TEED off on him, nearly all his punches got through i think it was round 6 for a minute straight. I couldn't tell if Clottey was hurt or not but I would be surprised if he wasn't but did Clottey budge?? Not a bit. Excellent speed and explosiveness. Matched speed with Cotto to prove this. Great defense. Goes without saying Timing. Underrated skill in this sport
BTW i didn't want to take away credit from Cotto. He once again showed the heart of a champion by fighting through adversity. Its getting old Cotto do something different and give in to the pain:twisted:
Boohoo, you claiming it was intentional? I forgot to mention accuracy on the list. He has very good accuracy
But he did....... any fighter can win any fight if they did things differently or if they had better abilities.......... but THEY DON'T!!!!
Its true thats whats important. A lot of times people miss the point. You can have all the talent, all the potential, all teh ability. But the only thing that counts is what you accomplish and do with it.
