So for you guys complaining about this catch weight bull****, would you mind waiting for the announcement of pac regarding the weight he prefers in the impending cotto fight before you start blabbering your mouths.
I thought his fight with DLH was a catchweight at 147lbs. DLH was fighting at 154lbs and Pac was fighting at 135lbs when they agreed to fight at a catchweight of 147lbs.
A catchweight is to describe a weight limit for a fight that does not fall in line with the traditional limits for weight classes.. 147 lbs is the traditional WW limit which means its not a catchweight..
so true. those ****ing haters are complaining already and the fighters aint even signed yet. *******s
Who's claiming he did? I think some people are complaining about comments made by Roach regarding potential bouts with Floyd, Shane, or Cotto. They can complain if they want, and regardless of Pac never having fought at a catch weight, it seems pretty clear that this is his intention for his next fight. Basically, what it boils down to is Manny is in the driver's seat, and this has some fans upset? Much ado about nothing. If these guys want to land the mega bucks fights that Pacquiao presents, then they are going to need to fight him on his terms. Mosley has already stated he would be more than willing to accommodate him, so I'm not seeing any real issue.
Definition of Catchweight: It's a weight mutually agreed upon by two boxers. It's when boxers in different weight classes meet in the middle. A catchweight fight is made at a middle-of-the-road weight between two weight divisions. http://www.ringsidebygus.com/boxing-terms.html#c Both Pacquiao (135lbs) and DLH (154lbs) fight at different weight classes and they met in the middle (147lbs). I can say that 147lbs is a catchweight.
When the definition says in between divisions, it means two divisions that are immediately after each other. Say 140 and 147 then a catchweight is any weight in between like 145 for example.
I don't think it's so much the catchweight,it's the fact he(or Roach) makes his opponents move down to unhealthy weights, therefore giving him an advantage the night of the fight. For example the Morales fights,De La Hoya, and now wanting Cotto to do the same. They drain themselves to the point of being weak on fight night. It's an advantage and a ***** move if you ask me. Yes they called him out,yet Marquez called mayweather out and Pretty boy uses this same reason to make him come up to his weight and you guys give him crap about it,but when Mosley calls Pac out it's o.k for Pac to make him come down to an unhealthy weight?Like mayweather said in his interview with Kenny"which one is it"? Just like Mayweather should fight fighters in his own division, Pac should the same!
OK for example the PAC-Hoya fight, which one would you like? PAC fighting DelaHoya at 154 lbs or DelaHoya fighting PAC at 135 lbs.?? .
The morales fight? LOL what have you been smoking? Dela Hoya was the one who called out pac when he couldn't sign maywearther and you are blaming pac fro their welterweight fight? I say it's a ***** move by hoya for picking on a smaller fighter, again what have you been smoking? Pac has not said anything about weight regarding the cotto fight so you can just stfu for the moment.
..at 154 lbs pac could have still managed a UD imo as a huge pacfan, i really hope he'll fight cotto at 147 lbs to shut all this doubters up.. then expect this...cotto is an old 28 and past his prime anyway, not the same fighter pre margocheato!!
