Vanihm are you happy you wasted your time making a reasoned and well thought argument, to have people come out and reply with witless and ignorant claims like "kessler is living like the king of denmark" and "kessler is over rated trash". The fact is, he is forever tainted by two words: Joe Calzaghe. He will never get respect from the majority of ignorant fight fans because he got beat by a guy who gets no respect here because (in most cases) American fight fans HATE Joe and anyone beaten by him (who they can't make an excuse for) is an over rated bum.
It just seems more and more apparent to me as time goes on that Kessler is satisfied with being a European-based titleholder who will defend his belt against C-level competition for the rest of his career. I'm tired of people just pointing fingers at his poor management. Kessler himself has yet to show any real effort at getting big fights. And people still rank him #1 in the division, while guys like Froch and Bute are actively trying to expand their careers. It just makes absolutely no sense to me. You don't deserve to retain the top spot when you have long stretches of inactivity, and when you actually do fight, you're fighting **** fighters.
I agree, Kessler, and i think highly of him, was beaten fair and square by Calzaghe. He focused too much on getting the KO and got outboxed in the process. Particularly after round 4. His finishing round was excellent though.
Kessler has fought noone. His biggest win was against Mundine. Who you say is undefeated since but fail to mention has been fighting club fighters in Australia since. Sartisan and Hausler, are probably Locket and Rubio level. But of course Pavlik fought these guys as stay in shape bouts, before big fights, whereas Kessler fought them back to back. And neither guy is anything more then a club fights. Hauslers bouts have all come against journeymen in Germany. Same with Sartisan. As for Hopkins being offered 4 million. I'd like to see that proved with a link. Oh and Kesslers team clearly ducked Dawson, who they said was too big. I wouldnt recommend it anyway, it would be a bad night for Kessler. He should fight Froch or Bute or the plethora of other top fighters in that division.
:good Spot on. Would anyone disagree that if the Froch v Bute fight goes ahead whilst Kessler remains inactive, the winner will be the number one at 168?
i agree, he can be the king of the denmark press, and live in monaco and not pay taxes.....and fight bums, and sit on his belt ala felix sturm..... the guy needs to grow some balls, the contract thing is total BS....if he wants to fight somebody with real credentials, he could get a good attorney and find a legal way to fight now, instead of being tied up in court.
Mogens Palle did that, and soon after the disagreements came to live. I think Kessler finally realized, that Palle didn't worked as hard for a US-fight as Kessler expected.
Well I just won't to see him fight again. Get with a US promoter of germany promoter and start fighting 3 time a year.
I've seen Kesslers fights before, the only reason he looked worse was because Calzaghe made him look worse and was a better fighter. Kesslers style was the same as always. British and Danish papers had the scores at 116-112 not 115-113. 8-4 was a fair reflection 7-5 was less so. Kessler is a very good fighter but he may have screwed himself over now...
Is Kessler over-rated? It's too early to tell. Is Kessler under-rated? It's equally too early to tell But his career does seem to have stagnated since the Calzaghe fight in my opinion. He needs to fight Froch as soon as possible.
