The Pac-Cotto fight would be a thing a beauty... for one reason...

In short - **** catchweights. If Diego Corrales fought Clottey at WW limit, why can't Pacquiao do the same against Cotto? Clottey is bigger than Cotto too :bart

hmm... are you sure? some ppl here actually said that cotto came in heavier than clottey during the fight. that's probably why cotto was able to body slam him.

What I meant was...Clottey came in weighing 170 against Corrales, I highly doubt Cotto has ever weighed that much for a fight. Also, body slam or not, it doesn't matter if you're heavier than the other person....

ok. but the much smaller corrales lost that fight, right? so, maybe that fight should've happened at a catchweight below 147 instead to have given corrales a better chance to win.

It was the first fight for Corrales at that weight and he didnt ***** about catchweights. Pacquiao however, has already fought at 147. See where I'm getting at?

yeah. but you have to remember that 147 wasn't the natural weight of both pac and dlh when they fought. pac went up two weight classes from 135 while dlh went down 3 lbs. from 150 (fight w/ forbes). see where i'm getting at here in return?

My point is - if Pacquiao can make the 147 without hurting himself and that's Cotto's natural weight class, why not make the fight at 147? Why fight DLH (a much "bigger" guy) and not Cotto?

cotto already has the luxury of being 12 lbs bigger than pac. should we also give him the added luxury of fighting at his natural weight class too? that's already giving cotto too much of an advantage in this fight.

If Cotto is comfortable on fight night (i.e the weight is fine)...............Cotto K.O within 3 rounds. I'm still unconvinced on Pac's ability to take a shot at these higher weights. But I'd love for him to surprise me and for it to be a competitive fight, if so, this could be the classic that Hatton-Pac promised to be.

However, it could be Hatton-Pac in reverse. Hope not, Manny is a nice guy and would hate to see him crushed, but If ear that is what will happen.

Then Pac should fight someone his own size then. Cotto is not doing Pac a favour by fighting him; Cotto probably wants cash and Pac wants to improve his legacy/get more cash.

If Pac is comfortable at 147 and so is Cotto, do it at 147. If Pac is comfortable at 145 but Cotto isn't, then we have got two guys uneven; one of them is basically ill.

Did Napoles force Monzon to shed a few pounds? Did Duran against Hagler? No. If Pac wants the fight, go up to 147. If not, fight Valero/Campbell/Bradley/winner of Marquez-Floyd (who I'm sure would accomodate a catchweight)

I'm sure Pac is a big enough draw to make enough money from those fights; Cotto will enhance his legacy the most, but also the fight that offers most potential to get badly hurt in IMO.

pac is not comfortable @147. he fought at that weight as a one-off since it was a mega-fight w/ dlh. that's why he slid back down to 140 after that fight. 140 is where he is comfortable. he and roach have said this many times.

and pac is a small welter like floyd (both of them weighing 148-150 during fights) unlike the 160+ lb big welters like cotto, mosley and margo. that's why i have no prob with pac fighting floyd even @147.
