Hope he stays humble in his entire career for I see a future ATG in him.

People talk about him like he is already new RJJ, while he has proved not much, would be funny if Maidana knocks him out.

Yeah, I've allready seen this. My childhood was prety **** too, so I can sort of relate to this guy.

Anyway, what a great and humble young man he's turned out to be despite his past. So many of us with ****ed up upbringings turn out prety badly but this dude has his life set prety straight. Much props and respect to Victor.

He's already mastered the straight right. He could build a career just off that one punch. If he can craft a varied offense around that punch then I think he can be successful.

jeez that caught me off guard a bit, id heard him talking about it before but nothing like that

you can see hes got that steely resilience and old schoolness in him that tough guys and loud mouth fighters of nowadays can only dream about. its called character and you cant train yourself to have that ****. he seems like the type that will really respect his opponents and that will make him a better fighter

from the way he talks and expresses himself i can see middle america really taking to this guy

I just don't feel right when television is using personal/family issues to promote a fight. A fighter should put something down to the table first to get the public's attention, and if the athlete creates enough buzz with athletic performances, the public will demand the background story anyway. It could be harsh for some, but 'selling' very personal issues for money and fame is just not for my taste.

i was gona reply right away and say no way, that boxing is unlike any other sport, where character personality and what made them matter more than any other but you make a good point. i like to view boxers as athletes too and not the savages that some people do. in that respect ufc has actually helped the sport of boxing by making people see that boxing is an athletic olympic sport and the ufc is now the 'worst of all'. ortiz is on hbo though and they probably view it that if he has something that will sell him, sell it
