Hatton/Mayweather sold out all tickets in 3 hours or less. Surely it was Hatton who sold out that one right?
The same peep's who had faith in Hatton prob lost interest post PBF?.. not sure. But Hatton also played an = amount in the success of his fight Vs. Pacquiao. The guy attracts peep's like flies to ****!!! Got to give Floyd credit tho... 24/7 is all him. That is the true reason he can call himslef the top draw. regardless of ODH/Hatton.... 24/7 is the selling point. That's why calling JMM/PBF a flop was a lil' premature. it didn't get a chance to air their 24/7 yet.
We can create theories out of our pockets all day, I can mention some theories to convince myself and hopefully others too, no worries. In the end Hatton/Mayweather sold out within a few hours after tickets went on for sale and it took Pac/Hatton all the way to one week before the fight. Did Mayweather make a difference?, it's obvious.
Not surprising considering the Market. I said that the PPV numbers would be far less than that of Hatton vs PAC. ANd I stand by that. When the fight comes off it will be around 400 to 450 PPV buys and that is pretty decent considering the economic state. Floyd is definitley a draw but he's been out for a while and PAC is now the main man in Boxing.
Yeah that's the point, 24/7 making a difference and shows that involve Mayweather bring excitement. Think after he retired we had DLH/Pac 24/7, RJJ/Calzaghe 24/7 and Hatton/Pac. All of them were boring beyond belief except for Hatton/Pac and that was because Mayweather Sr. brought some entertainment whenever he was on camera.
Can't deny that, I was addicted to it like "Crack". The Mayweathers are a reality show, A&E should scoop them up "Post Boxing"
How did Pac vs JMM 2 sales go vs Mayweather vs JMM??? and that would be pre Hatton/DLH Pac vs Post DLH/Hatton Mayweather
Im still gutted this fight is postponed, was really looking forward to this one. Would have been very entertaining to watch from a "boxing" point of view.
If Hatton / Mayweather and DLH / Mayweather did so well and JMM / Mayweather couldn't catch fire, what does that tell you about who was the draw in those first two fights? For example....how did Hatton / Malignaggi and Hatton / Lazcano do ticket sales wise? How about De La Hoya / Forbes and De La Hoya / Pacquiao? Also, Hatton / Mayweather was before the economy tanked, Pac / Hatton was after. I think the economy plays into everything now to a degree. I think this fight suffered from 1)Promotion hadn't kicked into full gear yet with 24/7 2)Perceptions of both fighters as not very exciting 3)Perception of the fight as a mismatch 4)Floyd fan base purchasing power over rated 5)Manny Pac isn't in the fight
Not necessarily. I think Floyd had a lot to do with it..but we're not taking into account the timing of the fight (December where I'm sure a lot of people got early christmas gifts by going to the fight), the economic situation (We weren't COMPLETELY ****ed yet) and most importantly Hatton himself. Hatton's fanatics were going nuts over tickets because Ricky was coming off a thoroughly dominating win over JLC. He also was considered The Man at that point and Floyd was considered to be the Man as well. Hence it was a showdown of sorts. Here even on this board there was tons of Hatton supporters who had nothing but blind faith to go off of. Floyd/Hatton had more going for it. Some of it was Floyd and some of it was the circumstances.
