Why? Simply because we pick him to win against Chavez?. IMO, Hearns would have destroyed Duran at WW. Even the one who fought Leonard. And Whitaker would have outboxed Duran at LW. I could quite easily lean to the otherside on both of those match-up's simply because I'm a Duran fan. If I did, I would telling lies to myself, my instincts, and everyone on this board.

Your "nuthugger" jibe is just sour grapes. Forget my avatar. It means zero when it comes to predictions. ZERO

It would arguably be the best fight ever IMO... only a moron would rule out Chavez, I see a real close fight with Duran`s greater 1 punch power & natural size advantage edging the majority of close rds.

Hey, if anyone could out-man Duran, it would be LWT Chavez... but I think Duran might get this on points, maybe even a split decision.

Ps. this fight has been done loads of times so be prepared for some wise ass to tell you that.

If esteban de jesus can beat duran, why wouldnt chavez have a shot at it. Let me guess, duran was weight drained for the de jesus fight too right?

I think this is getting out of hand now, with talks of Nuthugging and other ****, i've picked Duran on the same basis as others have, made an analysis on a styles matchup and skillset along with atrributes, and i only see Duran in honesty.

I think the talk of Dejesus there is silly, when we make a choice on a fantasy fight, we take an overall version of the man at the given weight, either that or both men's best respective possible showing we can objectively imagine at that given weight, in the interest of fairness.

How people can call me a nut-hugger when i haven't even disagreed with them picking Chavez (apart from an obvious joke above) i don't know. Apart from the styles being in favour of Roberto i think tha Chavez was truly a force of nature at the weight in his own right, and that is why i haven't jumped all over people picking him, ie great fighters can overcome adversity regardless.

However i think that Roberto Duran and Julio Cesar Chavez both being in full swing at 135 pounds, Duran would beat him, a lot of it would be done in the centre of the ring because of Chavez' unmovable nature, but still a decision victory none the less in my opinion. One of the most mouth watering fights of all time, a nd Chavez' elite chin has a lot to do with that

You ever heard of "looking at the broader scheme of things"? Duran wasn't his normal self that night. His title wasn't on the line and he clearly wasn't at his best. At the time it was seen as a warm up fight at the Garden to keep him busy. It looks like your prediction was put together based on a single poor showing by Duran at LW.

It would be great to have your attitude. I guess Tyson would be beaten by most great heavyweights based on the Douglas showing.

I can see that I will be in the minority on this pick, but thats cool by me! I would lean towards Chavez taking a close pts win...This one is real close and I would not be surprised by either guy winning.

I just think that they both could take each others stuff, and still force the action themselves...i just think Chavez would be slightly more effective...Go ahead and rip away!
